So I played during season 1 and I quit because the upper tiers 9+ were just too hard and the gear I was getting wasn’t helping me catch up to the recommended item level. I was just wondering if that has been fixed in season 3 or if it’s still an issue? I know gear is RNG, but the item level recommendations seemed really high back then which drove me away because of my bad luck.
Sorry, if my question seems odd. I was getting bored and I wanted to try delves again, but I was curious if Blizzard doubled down on their game design decisions or learned from them. I just don’t want to get stuck on two characters again like I did last time 604 and 606 respectively. I plateaued and after two months of it, I stopped playing.
Delves are a faceroll. Multiple alts lower than the recommended ilvl are soloing 11’s easily. Some of the alts Im even using obr so they further suck. Delves are cake
Is that in comparison to the season 1 deleves or are you just bragging? Genuine question because that doesn’t really answer mine.
I was wondering if they had any kind of adjustments? I know I wasn’t the only one turned off by them in the end. I liked the concept, but season 1 just felt like Blizzard missed the point of them.
What did you think needed adjusting?
They feel the same to me, but I never had any systemic difficulty, so maybe my experience doesn’t have any relevance to your question.
Their current status is faceroll. They have been nerfed from Season 1 drastically. You dont even have to go beyond Tier 8 for max gear rewards. Only need to run higher tiers if you want to get the gilded crests. The easier formula is 3 bountiful tier 11’s (one with map ) for the weekly gilded crests and hidden crest hero gear and the other 5 just regular tier 8. That gets you max vault unlocked and most crests/gear.

Basically, you needed better gear to survive the incoming damage that your defensives couldn’t handle because the damage was scaled too high. It made it become a gear problem for me playing a class that could easily do it. I had zero issues with 8s, but 9s and 10s got substantially harder and it felt like it didn’t match the kind of content it was advertised as. The telegraphed attacks were fine and easy to dodge, but I found myself struggling to stay alive with Brann as healer in the harder delves. And that’s not bringing up the ? and ?? Delves. Those were just insane. I did the ? One, but it didn’t feel rewarding because I was getting unlucky with loot drops. I tried to have some stuff crafted, but it didn’t seem to help. I want to say season 1 was 618 or 616 I honestly can’t remember and I was stuck at 606 for about a month and I gave up.
Well, I use Brann as a healer, and most often that suffices (plus the limited mitigation and healing cool downs at my disposable).
Yes, as a DPS, you take a lot more damage than might be typical. But it’s survivable, and even routine.
Don’t overpull, use crowd control when viable, use cooldowns (including planning for the availability of Brann’s) in fights with higher damage (like big elites and minibosses).
And gear. Most of my truly good gear comes from the Vault. I’m half Hero track now, and steadily improving. That, and upgrade gear aggressively with any crests you come by. Ilevel does count, and the recommendations for different delve levels should be taken seriously.

I wasn’t around for earlier seasons, but when I was getting stomped, I got better gear. The initial quests in K’aresh get you 642 item level gear that you can modify up to blue with stones. You can get a piece for every slot. I hit the weapon first, and by then usually had some veteran level gear from the delves.
I started with around 8/9 until I learned where the damage hit and how much I could pull in bear with Brann healing. Branns level also matters. I initially used whatever curios were the highest level until I maxed them all. Now I use Hatarang and the Aegis one. I also still use defensives regularly since Brann is sometimes lazy heals.
For some classes, it’s still easier to buddy up with one other person (I usually do a DPS on tank and a tank on clothie). I know people talk about scaling but I’m not trying to min/max everything, just get thru content without being totally annoyed. Hope some of this helps.

I’ve actually solo cleared an 8 with greens yesterday. It feels easier now actually. The scaling is better. I didn’t even die. Got a 694 piece out of it.
