So I currently main Horde on Benediction and from what I can tell its a fairly balanced population as far as Ally/Horde overall. I wanted to reroll Alliance on a PvP server just as an alt/maybe reroll entirely just for something new after playing Horde for quite a while. According to ironforge.pro (IDK how accurate it is) Benediction is by far the most balanced overall and Alliance get kinda screwed over on the rest of the PvP servers for the most part. I was thinking of going to Sulfuras since it seemed fairly populated but then I noticed the faction difference and feel like it may be impossible to level… I much prefer a US East server as I get 30 ping vs 90+ on US West. I wish I could just stay on Bene but play Ally but I’m not going to pay for another account just to do that. I also constantly hear horror stories of Ally being camped/scared off PvP servers…
Basically I just ask anyone who currently plays on a US East PvP server if its even worth it or should I just go play on a PvE server and get my PvP fix from BGs. I enjoy random world PvP while leveling/max level (I don’t camp/gank lowbies though) but if it really is THAT miserable to play on a PvP server as Alliance… I’m probably better off just going PvE. I REALLY don’t want to but from everything I’m hearing that might be the best bet for Alliance Anyone have any insight on this or should I take the chance on a PvP server? If so, which one - I don’t really see any good options outside of Benediction which again is already my Horde server…
Yeah Whitemane is actually one I was looking at but it ended up being US West unfortunately. I tried making a few characters anyway and debated going there but almost every single one that I usually use was taken already which surprised me because normally I can get the names I use since they aren’t common. I know the 90+ ping wouldn’t make a huge difference anyway so I was willing to do it but literally 6 out of the 8 names I commonly use were taken already haha. I was pretty disappointed, thanks for the info though. Worst case I may end up there and just deal with not having my usual names - thanks!
Anyone have any other server recommendations preferably for US East by chance?
Yeah if I had a choice I would 100% play Ally on Bene because I do like the server / population / balance BUT unfortunately that isn’t an option without deleting my Horde so… RIP that
EDIT: Actually screw it, I’m going to give Whitemane Alliance a shot. I work late anyway Mon-Fri (3-Midnight EST) so maybe a West Coast server would be better for me anyway since I play after I get off most nights. I doubt the increased ping would be too noticeable / make a big difference anyway. Thanks guys.
I’m on Fairbanks, and it leans heavy for horde, I think like 65/35.
I pvp, I love to pvp; but it’s obnoxious to quest, almost to the point where it isn’t even any fun. It’s a constant 5v1, horde camp right outside of Shatt 24/7 ganking lowbies literally the entire day.
I’m all for pvp, but the way they play genuinely sucks the fun out of the game a lot of times.
That sucks to hear I’m sorry, it is exactly what I am worried about. I love PvP as well but I am worried about areas being camped 24/7… I guess I’ll see how it goes with Whitemane.
Another option is making a second alliance account. You can play on the same server and only activate the horde account when you desire to. You also get a bonus of being able to boost again and play both AHs.
I play on Herod and there is virtually no competitive world PvP. Horde far outnumber us farming spots are impossible to farm without a 2v1 3v1 4v1 5v1.
It’s actually about 75/25 horde favor now on Fairbanks after the demographics updated and alliance have been leaving due to the world imbalance. Balance is changing pretty quick honestly and farming/questing is near impossible at this point. I love pvp myself but didn’t have time to pre-farm all the honor. Pretty stuck spending 300 ingame hours for blue pvp gear or getting camped by 5-10man gank squads lol.
Grobbulus is 58% Alliance and 42% Horde, (based on ironforge pro raid logs).
The World PvP is gorgeous as both sides are constantly going back and forth with control and PvP groups. Very lucky to have a strong PvP community on both sides, and I’ve played Grobbulus as Alliance until AQ Phase (which then I rerolled to be with friends). Both factions have a solid community and have driven out scum on both sides.
I just rolled on Benediction as Alliance and I definatly get ganked a fair bit. Sometimes multple times by a 70. Its not a huge deal I mostly just spend time in dungeons anyway. I dont think the population is as close as you think as im pretty much obviously outnumbered everywhere I go.
Interestingly enough I came from Grobbulus which is actually quite alliance dominant and the only pvp server like that so it was pretty frustrating being badly outnumbered in the open world as well as suffering hour long ques.
This. There was a huge 40 vs 40 pvp battles happening in Halaa today as the tokens were re-activated finally. Both sides going at it and some neat as hell plays. Doesn’t matter if youre on layer 1 or 2, people are always fighting for objectives and its boons.
This is what you need to understand, people by nature do not like struggle even more so in today’s world. Most use games to escape from real life worries or struggles and the last thing they want is to struggle more in a game that is meant to have fun.
People make Horde out to be this great faction, the truth is it’s easy mode. Players think they are some how better because of some racial buff… they aren’t. Most people would not last 1 week on realms like Ally (Fairbanks), Ally (Herod) or many of the other pvp realms that heavily favor horde.
I lasted all of classic on herod before my guild decided on xfering to horde and EF. I’m glad we did… its great to be able to go out and farm in peace. its almost like we’re on a horde pve server. LOL
I’m on the most populated server, Faerlina. You’d think since it’s where Asmon plays it would be mostly alliance populated, but no, the horde have huge numbers here. The thing you gotta understand about horde, you can be out questing and see one and still get your quest done without them bothering you. Horde will only attack if they catch you at low health or if they have strength in numbers if you’re alone and they have 3-40 extra players, or if they’re level 70 and you’re not. For the most part you’re gonna be fine though, they aren’t very good at pvp, that’s why they don’t ever go for an honest fight, and you don’t even gotta feel bad about getting killed by them since it’s always because of unfair circumstances why they would ever win as a legitimate excuse for why you lost to them.
Not all PvP servers are imbalanced heavy towards Horde. Incendius is 99/1% Alliance to Horde. Or even worse. At peak times I can do a /who 70 on Horde side and it shows 9 people.
It is f’ing terrible, and I’ve cancelled my subscription. I shouldn’t have to pay to transfer off when Blizzard is responsible for killing a near perfect 50/50% server with a healthy population back in the day. It didn’t even have a queue for more than 5 minutes during peak times so there was no reason to offer free transfers off. Blizzard is absolutely responsible for the condition Incendius is in right now.
