My realm’s /2 chat hasn’t been all that active since late BfA.; but I also rarely linger in zones where /2 chat is enabled.
Unlike circa 2010-2014 when there were all sorts of political trash talk I would notice while waiting on queues to pop. My guess is most of that moved to other platforms like ventrilo or discord

Blizzard has proven time and again they don’t really care about this stuff. The fact that they even pretend they do is about the best anyone can hope to get. They are doing it so they can claim they are doing it, but then not actually doing anything about any of it. They never will. Best way to really get them to do anything or change anything is to tell them with your wallet.

Neither you, or anyone else, or Blizzard, can stop people who want to troll on /2.
It is human behavior.
What Blizzard has done, is take steps towards reducing it.
For example the Warning notification that players get when they’re reported.
As well as splitting Trade into another channel.

The two other MMOs I play are not plagued with this, because of their heavy handed approach. They will outright permaban you for the “just another day” stuff I see in this game.
I remember the good old days of world chat.

Okay but, then that’s creating a culture of fear over what is okay and not okay to say in a global channel. That has a chilling effect on player engagement.
Players are just going to continue to troll and find other more pervasive ways to do it.

Reminder, this kind of language is considered perfectly acceptable to some people when if you changed “Right” to “Left” and changed “Trump” to “Progressives” it would be considered alt-right extremism to these same people.

On Stormrage it depends on the hour.
Yes there are some right wing crazies in chat but other hours or days you have far left lunatics. I suspect most of it is trolling to get a rise out of people. As someone who participates in these conversations regularly most people respond moderately (left or right.) And its amazing how many whispers you get from moderates willing to engage in real conversation.
As far as the political flat-earthers you just have to learn to deal with them or leave them be. I’ve found that no amount of logic is going to change their minds as their opinions are based on feelings.
