Just posting this question as it was part on my recently finished non American MBA and being one to keep RL from WOW, would now like to know from you guys whether it is or isn’t?
Merry Xmas as well.

My personal opinion, fwiw, is there are 4 types of achievements (probably could group 1 & 2):
1). Recognition of some accomplishment of difficulty in skill. Some get moved to Feats of Strength (AotC, CE, Gladiator, KSM, etc) but even others get dated so I’d say it means “hey you did it.”
2). Recognition of dedication to some aspect of the game (that generally comes naturally). Love pet battles? Look, safari for capturing all The pets in an area, or beating all the trainers, or even winning PVP battles. Love the stories? Go for it loremaster.
3). Engagement farming - hey let’s put in something really really cool and make it require people do things they normally wouldn’t do 1k times.
4). Devs thinking “What is the weirdest thing I can get players to do in the middle of things they normally do? All stop and chain emotes at a boss? Summon a child companion to do PVP?” Some are designed as challenge mode type things, that make encounters more difficult, but others are just “let’s make them be goofy.”
// you could probably add another category of “hey I logged in and did stuff,” such as finishing the campaign - and an achievement each step - or hitting a level.
