Archaeology Fixes Are Now Live

I inserted 4 wow tokens into my disk drive and still dont have staff after 600 solves, how much more money do we need to buy epic protection?

Honestly I was pretty excited for cata, but Archeology has ruined that for me. If you want to compete it’s pretty much mandatory to get the weapon. System is just horribly designed and needs to be fixed. Going several hundred hours without any sort of reward is awful. Either give us bad luck protection, add more rewards, or just drastically increase the drop rate of the weapons.

please just add the Pterrordax Hatchling to 450, it makes so much sense that i cant believe it wasnt hotfixed. im just solving fossil over and over with no reward and no chance to reduce the spawns

There is a lot of people annoyed/burned out/upset over how long this is taking. I also agree with just adding the hatchling so we can get it now, there literally is no ingame advantage to having it so this would go a long with easing the discontent everyone is feeling. Honestly i’d much rather there be a chance of say even requiring 5000 fossil fragments to get a guaranteed solve than this rng nonsense.

This really needs bad luck protection even if its very slow building. 1200 solves and no zinrok/shield/staff/trinket

You guys should really set a number where you decide not to continue for now because its just not in the cards and hope that blizzard drop a random buff on arch rather than continuing this pre bis torture grind when we aren’t even half way through the prepatch yet

Are people even supposed to have gotten any of the 85 epics? I see WoWhead comments from 2011 where people claim you need 525 skill and all of the items on wowhead show a skill level of 525 for those items.

IE: in the comments of this item from 2011

I just had a chat with a GM on my server, just to clarify the somewhat fuzzy information regarding the needed char-level to obtain Items like the Staff, or Zinrokh, or Tyrande’s Doll.

The char-level is irrelevant according to the GM.

For clarification: You don’t have to be Level 85 to find those Items only usable at 85. A Skill of 525 is ofc required.

So I’m curious if these items were supposed to be obtainable or if it was a bug that some people got them and if that bug is still there or was it changed?

Then again, WoWpedia claims they require 450 and a random MMO champion comment from 2010 insists he got zin’rokh at 37 skill and that there is no skill requirement for any solve (or wasn’t at that time anyway): (https://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/813109-Zin-rokh-Destroyer-of-Worlds-before-level-85).

Honestly don’t waste time fixing the bugs in Archaeology, just remove this crapfest. This mini-game should of never been invented, it’s a huge waste of sanity. You really want to keep it, make it like Mining and be done with it. It’s not like it really works anyways, it was a half-ars job back then and just a reminder now of your lack of ingenuity of then and now.

You can just not do it lol maybe consider going outside after a week of no-lifeing the optional fun side content what a sad pathetic angry gamer moment

It doesn’t matter if it was supposed to be available at 525 or not. Whether intended or a bug they are dropping for people therefor the people who want to compete feel obligated to grind.

If it wasn’t available this would not be a problem.
If it wasn’t 100% luck this would not be a problem.

Or you can not judge or tell people how to play the game they pay the same price as you for.

You think it’s a problem that there’s a player base that is competitive? Why does it matter to you?

You should spend some time grinding out some reading comprehension instead of archaeology kid

Got it - zero feedback for the argument here. Just here to play the “ThIs WaS oUt 15 YeArS aGo WhY DOeS iT MaTtEr” card. Don’t be a prick if you have nothing useful to add, kid.

It says this for every rare archaeology item, even the Haunted War Drum toy, which most certainly does not require 525 skill.
