Arcane orb baseline For shadoowlands?

Can we please get this ability integrated into the spec instead of having it as a talent?

I never understood why people want this particular spell baseline so much? I’ve always found it unimpressive.

I personally like having another button to press that i know can pump out safe aoe damage, and also give me arcane charges. I feel like it is essential to the spec but, they make you choose between arcane orb or single target talents which isnt fair.

It’s thoroughly uninteresting as a spell.

I just dont see how it fits into a baseline rotation. If it instead marked enemies to get hit by either a clearcasted AM or an extra hit by our Arcane Barrage then it would be fine. As just a charge generator it should stay a talent but be moved into the correct row.

As a damage-dealing ability it’s unimpressive. In terms of generating charges on the fly it’s great. It’s not a baseline rotation spell. It’ primary benefit is to use it on the move when you can’t perform your regular rotation so you can quickly generate charges.

On a side note, I think it looks awesome. Not that that’s a great argument for it being baseline.

Arcane Orb is a talent because it gives us a somewhat interesting way to deal quick AoE damage in m+/world scenarios in contrast with Overpowered which is always taken in raids IIRC.

I’ve always thought Supernova should be made baseline, personally, because it of how thematically logical and visually pleasing it is to the Arcane Spec. Orb just feels like a significantly less interesting version of something Frost has and Fire used to have. I like having it available in the toolkit when necessary, but I don’t think it needs to be baseline.

Doesn’t need to be baseline, and nowhere near powerful enough to justify its talent slot. I’d eliminate Arcane Familiar and move it to the 15 tier. Nerf its damage to chi blast levels, if that makes it work. Give us a skill that’s actually new and competitive with OP in the last tier. I don’t know exactly what… be imaginative Blizz. You do remember what imagination is, don’t you?

Not a terrible idea to be honest.

Hey Blizz, while you’re at it, get rid of Ice Ward and give us something interesting. How the hell Ice Ward still exists is astounding to me. If you want us to have 2 Frost Novas, then bake it into the class. No one is choosing that over RoF or a passive mobility boost that doesn’t hinder DR’s.

“Unimpressive?” Did you not play arcane in Legion? There was nothing more satisfying than shooting out an arcane orb into a pack of mobs and then follow it up with an arcane barrage and if you had the legendary shoulders have that loop going.

What? That’s like saying you don’t understand how frozen orb fits into the frost rotation. It’s an obvious part of an AoE rotation.

What I don’t understand is the final talent row for arcane. It makes absolutely no sense and, with the exception of arcane orb, contains some of the most uninspired talents I can think of. Overpowered should not be a talent, period. Any talent that gives a flat damage % boost to an ability and offers no other mechanical change should not take up a talent slot. And the very fact that the third talent slot in that row has changed every single expansion since that row was first released in Warlords tells you all you need to know.

Move that whole damn row into the PvP talents. While they’re at it, take Glacial Insulation with them. Given Blizzard promised to separate PvE and PvP quite a long time ago it still feels bad to have a talent tier that is literally “take whatever, you’ll never see a benefit in PvE”.

That was actually fun. Maybe Blizz could be nice and remember that Arcane exists, give AO as baseline and then put a talent for barrage to have a chance to proc another AO.

Exactly I don’t understand people that say its uninteresting or it doesnt fit with the rotation.

It absolutely should fit with the rotation, because it already has in the past. We need more aoe besides arcane explosion, and arcane orb hits that check mark.

Its current iteration is pretty uninteresting… just flat AoE damage and resources cast on cd. No major considerations for timing it to maximize damage or resource gain. It’s not like it’s a useless skill (when competing on a more appropriate talent row), but surely we can think of something better.

Arcane does have room for another proc, other than clearcasting. That should ve made use of.
