Im just rerolling Warlock, mage has been fun. Wanted to play arcane, not happy with how it looks
Not buying the no more space on my bars act. My hands are small af and I’m able to easily have 48 buttons accessible.
User Interface is a lot about individual preference and comfort.
I have the reflexes of the average banana slug. There is no way I could access 48 buttons comfortably by reflex without looking at the keyboard or mouseclicking. As such, I do not plan on ever hotkeying fireblast or frostbolt as arcane spec.
But YOU obviously have much, much better reflexes than me. So for you, hotkeying little used situational abilities like those is a no-brainer. I salute your impressive hand-eye coordination!
My ELVUI set up uses 7 action bars and keybinds “z,x,c,v,b,n,f,g,h,j,t,y,u” keys, all numbers keys, and some F keys. Non-modified are on mouseovers macros, shift-mod is target casting, and ctrl-mod’s are cooldowns. I haven’t counted the total of keys binded, but its a heck of a lot…
I disagree that there are too many abilities to effectively key-bind. I have all the combat abilities bound and use the default bars, using shift, alt, and control. No offense, but this is an issue with your particular UI and set up.
I do agree with you on Alter Time, but only in regards to it’s effectiveness in pre-patch PvP. Good player’s will dispel it instantly, but most time don’t need to as you can pretty much die in a single stun dr; even with the garbage relentless trinket.
On beta, the soul/bind conduit system gives you more options to survive. Like flow of time or diverted energy, so it feels generally better, and less reliant on alter time.
Good god what is going on here
Also your 3. note, you should be warned to about making threats to someone on forums especially a Blizzard employee. If something makes you THAT upset, you really need to rethinks your life some to be that mad over a video game
OP is either like 15 years old…or a complete idiot. High possibility of both. I am now dumber for having read this thread.
You’re better than me: I only read the comments from the people who replied that I trust and respect their input like Mythlos and Mist.
As soon as I saw “rage caps” in the initial post I skipped it thinking I’d get the jist from the replies lol
Thinking is hard for some people…
When nearly everything this OP is complaining about is what the rest of the Arcane mage community is celebrating…
Now is a better time than ever to reroll a new class!
I’m sure there a lot of people who started playing Arcane in BfA that won’t like some of the changes.
For those of us who left it even though it was what we mained until BfA, the changes are welcomed to return arcane to more than a one-button-spam spec.
Icyveins posted some data on most common specs being run in M+ during pre-patch. Seems most mages are sticking with Frost.
The whole things is a disaster! In addition to what you and others have noted. why don’t all three specs have Greater Invisibility yet? They changed things…spells are being stared from each spec again, add this one too. There is still no explanation why the pvp nerf still affects pve from eons ago when it was nerfed from 90% damage reduction down to 60%. Fix it already, and have that spell available for each spec. We pay monthly to play the game, you’re end of the deal is provide a quality product. So please listen to the community and take care of the things that need to be remedied!
I quite enjoyed it tbh.
it isn’t off the GCD
I created a Mage character in preparation of Shadowlands originally thinking I would be playing Fire, but Arcane has honestly been a much more enjoyable and interesting experience to me, and it feels great to play from my experience with it so far.
I actually love how you have to pay a lot of attention to your mana and switch your rotation up based around it and your other abilities. Every other class I’ve played thus far (Paladin, Warrior, Demon Hunter, etc) has never actually made me have to switch up what I’m doing in the middle of a fight to compensate for low resources or anything like that, so it’s a very nice level of complexity that I have found very enjoyable, granted I’m still getting the hang of my rotation.
I want to add that this is coming from a person who generally hates casters in most MMOs. I’ve always found them boring to play, but Arcane (and also maybe Fire) has made me eat my words. And I couldn’t be happier that Arcane is looking to perform pretty damn well in SL.
I personally think Arcane is in a pretty damn good spot from what I’ve experienced so far, and from what I’ve seen of the beta. I get not everyone might agree, but I figured I’d just offer my opinion being relatively new to the class and spec.
AFTER THE PAST WEEK OF PLAYING WITH MASTER OF TIME, I HAVE COME TO THE FOLLOWING CONCLUSIONS:
-
Master of Time > Shimmer
Without Displacement, Shimmer doesn’t come close. If the Shimmer talent also replaced Alter Time with Displacement, then MAYBE Shimmer is worth taking. -
Alter Time needs work:
Should be usable while stunned, should return you without debuffs and dots incurred, OR should return you with the Arcane Changes accumulated when Alter Time was used. I don’t think it should turn back the timers on personal buffs (I believe that’s how it used to work), but any of the three options above would make Alter Time a talent truly worthy of Displacement’s “Displacement”. -
I still think Mana Gem is a complete troll.
You actually played that meme of a spec in BFA and somehow find the SL version of it worse?
Man id love to live a day in your shoes.
mana gem should give us 1 or 2 free clearcasting charges
