Honestly, nah. The monkeys paw curled a finger when all the paladins complained about judgement hitting everything not in combat and now as a consequence it’s a struggle to pull groups of mobs because judgement only ever hits 1 thing.
I don’t know. I like using it to clear/pull more. I disagree with OP. I want my orb to do damage and hit stuff without having to hit it with something else first. It pisses me off for example, when I cast a halo and still have to agro everything around me.
This shows you don’t play Arcane Mage. Arcane Mages don’t have to press Arcane Orbs to fire Arcane Orbs. You should read Arcane Mage’s hero talent and come back. All good Arcane Mages speak very loudly about Arcane Orbs via hero talent.
You gotta communicate with the tank so he pulls each group farther back. It’s your job to aim away from any adds. It’s annoying but not hard.
Also, I wouldn’t want to lose the capability of the orbs pulling trash out of combat.
You act as if the vast majority of tanks don’t just ignore everything anymore tells them in chat… can communicate all day to them, they will still just pull however they feel like… doesn’t matter if your an Arcane Mage or a Healer, most tanks don’t care what we have to say…
I only pug m+ and I’ve had no problems with asking them to move back. They do it, it’s fine. Sounds like you had a bad run and are venting. That’s fine too. Just talk to them while forming.
I also want to say, Arcane is awesomely fun to play right now. And they are almost the top in m+. The perfect place to be. People say they don’t want to “play the positioning game”, but it’s not really that bad. Just practice it and you will be fine.
Yeah plot twist buddy, of course I don’t play arcane. Might be why I assumed they work like Frozen Orb being an active button press OR THE OLD ARCANE ORB WHICH ALSO WAS ITS OWN BUTTON.
Why should I as a tank have to know wtf arcane mage hero talents do? Why are they designed so badly it becomes a problem?
Don’t forget if a tank moves something right before you AM (which can rotate your character) and a splinter procs an orb…
It’s also not just about aiming yourself correctly to avoid the rogue orbs aggroing unwanted packs, but also at the same time aiming yourself so your orbs will hit the most from the engaged mobs.
All that could be a non issue if Orbs slowed down after the first thing they’d hit.
Arcane Mage don’t have to press Arcane Orbs to fire Arcane Orbs via Spellfrost Teachings. You cant even predict on travel and impact timing from splinters. Arcane Orb procs from splinters and also generates splinters. That’s why Arcane Mage pull mobs and there’s zero counterplay for procs + mechanics.
Many good Arcane Mage (Hopeful, Porom and etc) speak very loudly on random Arcane Orbs like Enhancement Shaman speak very loudly on threat issues.
Something everyone should get to see at least once in their life.
It is fun and good, but just because something is both fun and good doesn’t mean you can’t point out the flaws it still has.
Yeah, it could be designed better.
Somebody in the mage forums had mentioned a good idea of letting the orb be something that actually drops down ontop of our target and hit things in a radius of it instead of flying through it. That sounded like it would look really cool and be easier to manage.
I feel like orbs should explode on impact like once they hit their target thats it. Ive had problems in dungeons for this reason.
