Man, just ran with a super team beating down +8s for crests and it was hot! Fastest runs I’ve seen so far. The Devastation Aug whooped me in overall dmg, even on my best map(s), but on Single Target (boss fights) I was usually number 1. I think the biggest weakness I found was targeting. If I target wrong mob the arcane toolkit fails me or is weak.
Targeting low health mob with ToM sucks, or trying to surge half way through a pull; targeting a travel mob when Tome triggers, or facing just a little off center when orb barrage triggers (orb flies just a bit to the left), was really my biggest weak spots. Orbs missing the packs just sinks the damage instantly. Also I think Tyrant week makes me weaker because the ramp up is just getting going when the groups die. I think this is why I did so much better on bosses, because you get 1 or 2 surge cycles and can sync with time warp.
I did manage to get a heroic Heart trinket, sort of by accident. Running out of gear upgrades pretty soon. Will be looking for Bullion and crafted pieces basically.
I learned to never use evo or surge mid pull unless its a boss and they have enough health to survive the entire burn phases.
If you’re mid pull and evo/surge come up just hold it for the next pull. It takes so long to set up that everyone will be so far ahead of you on dps that you wont catch up, even if things live until youre theough your burn window. Taking 5 seconds to set up when everyone is doing 1m+ dps will be a net loss, no matter how juiced you are for the remainder of the pull.
Then youll go into the next pull with no cds again and its a viscous cycle.
I hold my cds if they come up mid pull. Do average dps on the pull, then evo on the way to the next pull and do stellar damage.
It’s better to get in the habit of actually clicking your targets, especially when selecting targets you want to focus interrupt. You should always have a focus target keybind so you can quickly click on your target while the tank is rounding up a group and set your focus. While also having a focus target interrupt macro/ kick. That way you can still kick your focus while still attacking the highest HP mob/ priority. Once targets reach execute range you should always be clicking on those to get barrage executes out. Having a good nameplate addon helps with all of these points.
I use plater with a profile I found on YouTube. It’s colour coordinated for mobs that show the highest priority target that normally have the highest hp and most important kicks while other mobs are another colour for less important but still need kicking. But I would suggest using quazii plater profile as he goes into great detail about it and it’s well done. I know people don’t like addons and weakauras but I feel like plater nameplates is one of the most useful ones there is. I’ve been using plater since the end of bfa so I’ve gotten use to it though, it can take a bit to work out
Ran way better today, was putting up great numbers even finished some runs as number 1. I swapped out Fragment for Heart and was very surprised at the uptick. I was still at around 50 mastery even with Fragment off, so I think that is key.
A part of me wonders if the weak aura I have to track heart procs makes them count twice on details (assuming details now correctly tracks Heart???). If so I wasn’t as hot as I think. But more than once we had multi-million HP executes from heart which was nice to see.
Hoping to finish getting at least 10 on everything. I ran one 11, and that was really decent, maybe even more fun than lower keys. I think the priest was throwing me some PI, cause I could t cast spells fast enough they were just slinging out like I was juiced the whole time.
I finally got a run at 405K overall DPS!!! Woop. I swapped some of my trinkets and crafted some new boots. Tome hit for just under 40M across the dungeon.
