Arator's Horde, What That Should Mean;

It shouldn’t mean that he just warmed to Silvermoon and preferred to stay Red Team for the same reason I’d probably become Canadian if they annexed Chicago successfully.

Well that’s my home, so, I’m with the Red Flag I guess

No it should mean he had genuinely interesting adventures with all the (core) members of the Horde.

I want to hear how he got into a drunken brawl in Orgrimmar and punched so hard he loosened a tusk. So impressed the Orcs insisted he join them on an adventure and he fought shoulder to shoulder with an Orc raiding party against the Burning Blade. He learns these Orcs are just as brave and honorable as any knight.

Then hearing there was need of a healer in Razor Hill he met a sickly young troll wounded by venom. Where he encountered and aided a Darktroll Witch Doctor and her guard in gathering the regents to cure the young adventurer. He learns these so called primitive trolls have a truly different and just as advanced understanding of magic as he does.

Then in the Barren’s he encounters Tauren Braves on a sacred hunt. Thinking he can easily slay any beast he eagerly joins only to learn patience and a deadly serious appreciation for nature from the Shu’halo.

Finally he hears of a sacred temple to the Light set to be defiled by the Forsaken. And, say it with me now, learns the Forsaken are just rebuilding the place with a different esthetic and are as human and compassionate as anyone else.

Now these are just examples I don’t literally need this. But I do need Arator to interact with and understand the nations of the Horde before joining it.

The Horde above all is an ensemble. Being a die hard fan of one of the bass guitarists because he’s a cute blonde twink won’t due. You gotta rock with the whole band.

Well at least the original full band. The Fox guy has been great for ticket sales but not really repping the “in the face of extinction, we found eachother” vibe.

Well that would require him to not be an Anduin rerun, sorry.

If only some no doubt handsome heroic genius kindly suggested a way that could be avoided so there could be a fulfilling story.

Well, I would certainly rather play your version of events, fwiw.

I don’t even have a version of events. I just want a short story where he hangs out with Orcs, Trolls, Tauren and the Forsaken.

I’d like him to actually visit the lands of these people and become familiar with their culture and customs.

But I’ll take one adventure where he was the Belf Paladin in a group of an Orc Warrior, Tauren Hunter, Troll Shaman and Forsaken Priest. And learns all the aforementioned lessons but you know, speedrun.

As the Horde PC, that’s basically your job. You take him around and show him a good time all over the Eastern Kingdoms for his questline.

But you can’t share culture with him, because that would be far more involved than what the Quest Writers have the bandwidth to make. And the only relevant culture in this expansion and likely in following expansions will be the focus culture that hosts the player base in their capital city.

If any playable race wants to see their culture on display, they have to be hosting the PCs for the expansion, or be the focus of a major patch.

Getting a strong sense I’m going to make Pelinal come off as moderate on elves by the time the first patch is over.

Give me a Orc

They’re not making him Horde, they’re making him a post-factions neutral character.

Oddly enough, the backgrounds of such characters are always based on the Alliance.

Blizzard really seems to believe that being neutral means belonging to the Alliance.

well if the forums are anything to go by horde players really hate having neutral stories happen to their characters

Anduin 2.0. Somehow more of a Mary Sue than the original.

Pretty sure the whole thing is just going to be him leading the elf unification storyline before becoming leader of Silvermoon.

Because like I’ve said in the other thread, it’s just Alliance stories painted as “neutral.” I also just want to do things with my own faction. To see their stories fleshed out or finished. I don’t care about Alliance NPCs. I’m beyond tired of that.

So liadrian is alliance in za? cause shes neutral? thats the baseline? well you are probably never gonna be happy ever again

I didn’t say Liadrin is. But Arator is until they Calia him. Turalyon, Alleria, Vereesa and Umbric are. In TWW Moira, Dagran, Anduin, Alleria, Renzik, etc. In DF we still had Night Elf stuff going on that has been going on since Legion. I’ve had to do quests with Jaina, as a Blood Elf, which is crazy.

Wild how you only have at best two examples cause lor’themar and liadrin are the only horde mains characters and the rest are alliance.

And they only seem to send us out to the campaign… the majority of it seems spent with Arator and Umbric. Which why? That’d be fine for Alliance players. I’d rather not.

Arator and Umbric are the LEAST interesting characters WoW has. I think the concern is how blizz has currently split up Quel’thalas/Silvermoon between being Neutral and horde aligned.

That I believe is making the other story decisions worse than if the entire zone was purely horde and alliance were explicitly told they would be getting kicked out once the void invasion is dealt with
