Although you may not necessarily want to as players are going to want to try and position themselves accordingly; if you have the effect being dispelled early it helps with healing, but you can end up with globs moving in worse places. We’ll have to see, really.
does (talented) fade not work?
Phantasm only works on snares, the puddle is the root effect so Fade with Phantasm doesn’t work.
Affixes don’t exist cause people move to +12.
The problem is that not everyone will have a hard CC available to break their own root, since Ki’katal immediately follows up Cosmic Singularity with Erupting Webs.
Ridiculously easy to die that when they’re back to back, and the visual for the web margins is pretty weak.
Other people can help you with your root in niche situations you don’t have a way out (which quite frankly you always should. WRT while talented for snare breaks, paladin freedom, ect - external stun (HOJ/storm bolt/cap totem ect) or just straight dpsing whomever is still rooted at the time
I understand people just want to tunnel a patchwerk boss for every encounter and god forbid you lose a hair if damage switching to deal with a mechanic but thems the breaks kids!
The problem is that snare breaks don’t work with root mechanics, hence Priest’s Fade doesn’t work with root mechanics. Mind control is too slow to cast unless you cast Mind Control in a perfect time and Erupting Web will hit the priest and die with 0 counterplay. You can’t DPS slime whoever is still rooted in a time because you need to do 2M DPS in a half second to kill slimes. It is impossible to kill slimes on time. Cosmic Singularity and Erupting Webs happen very very close together, that is what Blizzard should nerf mechanics.
This just happened to me, felt horrible.
when are they fixing this impossible boss??? 10+ is a insta killer keys
The boss is “fine”, just need to keep track of when the AoE comes in. I’d personally make the AoE instantly break slime CC as it’s just a very annoying mechanic that is trivialized by certain specs while extremely dangerous when the puddles appear only 1s after. If you’re a spec that doesn’t have something to deal with that it’s GG.
Maybe changing the poison dot to only apply to 3 targets max would also be a reasonable because this affects healers that are not good at healing that spread out as it kinda forces you to somewhat spread constantly. This change would probably make the boss a snoozefest on higher difficulties though.
Alternatively instead of the above 2 changes maybe a 10% HP reduction so that the fight doesn’t drag on for too long. There’s a lot of forced downtime that not only slows down the pace of the entire fight, it also causes issues for specs that rely on uptime mechanics, think outlaw rogue and augmentation evoker.
I don’t think this boss is particularly hard but it is extremely annoying and not fun as melee. It’s just wayyyyy too much stuff that you have to move out for. It feels like you get to hit the boss for 5 seconds at a time.
please stop saying ‘the cast is too long so they can’t get out of it’.
the add spawns the second you get in the root, you can time your casts so it lands right as the suck-in completes
? The mechanics on +10 aren’t harder than a … 2?
You can use interrupt, stun or any form of cc to make the blood release you.
I’m more concerned about the random times the blood is mid-channel, no player presses a CC but it releases you anyways. That is a problem.
The mechanic itself is …… okay. Not very fun. But when it functions, it functions well.
Never seen this happen. They have to be using an ability that breaks root or dazes, stuns, ccs the slime by accident. There was one druid in another thread saying it was a bug that shapeshifting was breaking the root, which is what shifting does.
Correct, Druids can proc some of their abilities (say swift mend and turn in to a tree) and they get DEAD.
How this bug is not fixed? Feels like I’m playing beta.
Rather go spend the money and play Ashes Alpha at this rate. At least there, the company says it’s an alpha and not claiming their game is ready to go live.
Well a bug implies it’s doing something that isn’t intended. A druid shifting from a proc is intended and shifting breaking roots are intended as well. This is more of a grey area of bad mechanical design, but can also be easily avoided by not shifting or using abilities that proc tree form.
During the root mechanic phase, there isn’t much damage going out so the healer just needs to top people off before or use abilities that won’t proc during. They need to know their class.
nothing you described is a bug. you have the agency to not press swiftmend. swiftmend is supposed to proc tree and tree is supposed to remove roots via shapeshifting.
The biggest issue is the fact the puddles vanish before the suck explode even happens. The easy fix is to make them STAY until the suck explode happens. THe real pain in the bum is timing the puddle drops so they dont vanish before the mechanic happens.
That’s not even an issue because the mobs that drop the puddles are constantly spawning. It takes 1 hit for them to drop it. You can also visually see the puddles shrink so it’s not like they randomly vanished.
There’s nothing to time. A ranged dps or healer just needs to pop them as the fight goes on. If there isn’t enough puddles then it’s a mechanical execution issue.
