I dont really care if he was being overridden…in the interview with Ion he CLEARLY was for removing flight…something any gamer on this planet would have known without asking a soul was the dumbest thing this company could have tried to pull.
Ion was on board with that stupidity. His own words prove that fact.
So overridden or not, Ion IS at the heart of what is wrong with this game.
He CLEARLY does not comprehend the mass majority of WoW players.
The opening of the covenants is no big deal. No, really. It was inevitable.
Like Azerite Power or the Legion legendary. You level an alt in late Legion, and “DING!” “Oh, look, you have ALL the legendary powers in a mouseclick!” Amazing!
This is no different. The entire premise of the borrowed power systems is simply to give players “something to do” during the expansion, they’ve always opened them up at the end.
The only folks whining about the covenants were the min-maxers switching to FoTM builds. For the majority of folks, leveling a covenant and doing the covenant campaign were one in the same, and something folks WANTED to do! They WANTED to see the campaign content. Do the quests, see the story.
Renown flows like water during play, everything drops it: M+, LFR, Callings, Korthia. And renown is the primary gate keeper in the covenant. And the Campaigns were hardly arduous without the timegate, unless someone burnt themselves to a crisp chain running it.
So, anyway, this change was inevitable. Nice to see it happening.
Why would they buff the faction that has the best racials for PvE and PvP? The reason Alliance is dead is because people want access to other players in a MMO so they gravitate towards the side with more players doing the content they enjoy. It has happened over a decade. Dissolution is the only solution. Buffing one side creates separate issues.
Edit: A lot of top guilds went horde in ToS because goblin racial was REQUIRED. They decided not to go back because what’s the point when most high end raiders played horde.
