Anyone wish they could go back to 2006-2007?

Heck ya, I wish I could.

But not for the reasons you think.

If I could go back to 2006/2007. I would be ~3yrs from Bitcoin’s debut. The era when 10,000 BTC was used to buy a pizza (that probably cost around $20-30; heard it was ‘Chicago style’).

I would remember that when I got into the beta test of HP’s ‘hat toss’ entry into Cloud Computing. Not to waste time Folding@Home, but instead to mine BTC.

I’d also would have fore-knowledge to dump thousands of dollars into this little startup for Electric Vehicles; owned by a guy with some crazy ideas of solar panel shingles, space flights, and a tunnel.

And with all that wealth.

BUY THE BIGGEST BADDEST RIG EVER AND PLAY VIDEO GAMES!

noo being competitive is wrong and bad, you are enjoying videogames wrong, videogames are not about being competitive! you need to design games the way I want you to, or else they are not fun!

Yikes.

Nobody is stopping you from flailing around like an idiot and ““having fun””, as you put it.

Nice overboard reaction. I think you fit well into the second statement I made.

I think its mostly comes down to your innocence.
I was started WoW when I was 12 or 13, and everything was so new to me, just as life was still new. Its still very new now at 27, but just not with the same innocence of a kid. Think thats the main thing that has changed.

i would rather go back to 1999 and buy out all the ZARDS

Interesting point, but Im seeing games become sport, like any skill.

I read early articles ripping on golf, baseball and basketball as sport. There was a time only old olympic events were “legit”

I miss 2000-2008 in games…but…love what is changing, too.

That was a jerk comment and unnecessary.

I feel the exact same OP, exact same.

Or at least don’t crap on the folks who are just playing for fun.

Or… I dunno… folks could perhaps talk to people in game in the same fashion they would in person?

Imagine if a really good soccer/football/hockey (whatever) player joined a scrimmage or pickup game, and talked to the less skilled people on his/her team in the same fashion some wow elitists talk to other players?

People have been saying this about their developmental years for centuries. I’m sure you can find ancient texts where Plato is lamenting that things aren’t like the good ol days back in 430/431 BC.

You got older. /thread

I agree. I’ve always found elitism annoying and it’s sadly pretty common among WoW players (I tend to think of the ones doing it as very immature and having nothing else in life satisfying so they need to put others down over a video game to be happy)

I stay away from it in-game as much as I can and have been pretty successful with that. On the forums, it’s impossible to avoid.

As for if it happens in other places outside of video gaming YES it does. A professional won’t necessarily trash talk someone for playing for fun though. It’s a childish thing to do.

As for the topic in general I wouldn’t want to go back in time because I have had good things happen that I wouldn’t want to lose by changing anything. I’m glad I have the option to play older games if I want to.

You’ve clearly never actually played a pickup game/sport in your life if you think $&%# talking is exclusive to Wow… rofl
You think people arent bumping and yapping their gums off in RL? Pleeeease

Not to the level of outright disrespectfulness that some of these people display, nope.

Guess I play with more civilized folks perhaps?
