Anyone know why a Frostfire Bolt (DoT) is hitting for 1.7mil?

It seems pretty insane when that can follow up with Multiple instant Frostlances for 1mil+ just because the Mage threw an Orb out.

Like I said 1.7mil is high, but not killing on its own…but Mage toolkit for followup damage is insane lol.

It was 1.8mil and last night in 3s whenever we went against RMP or Frost/Feral it was hitting minimum 1.5-1.7mil every game. And we came across quite a few of those teams.

Not gonna lie the most annoying thing about Frost to me though is the infinite slows when playing on my WW Monk. Literally will use my Anti-root and immediately be slowed for like 80% of my speed after I got out of the Nova. Glad Blizzard is gutting Frost Mage slowing and making it DR in 11.0.7

Isn’t the instant proc like once per min?

Or on cast of their big CD which you’d likely respond with a defensive anyway

I guess nothing should ever die, to me it’s just not mindblowing in a vaacum.

Mages are all procs and critting to get any tempo, and you have an anti critting defensive usable while stunned

everything gets complained about even when we have direct counters, why

You cast Ice Lance? Oh I didn’t realize Ice Lance was a casted ability my bad.

Not saying that at all, I’m just pointing out with Frosts current toolkit of AoE permaroots and slows the entire arena, crazy damage output and insane survivability something has to give with them. They’ve been S+ tier since the expac came out right along with Feral.

Again not even comparing BM to Mage lol, literally said multiple times BM is overtuned and needs damage adjustment. Mage also needs damage adjustment.

BM is the counter to Frost and Warlocks…I never even insinuated BM was countered by Mage.

The numbers only get that high during veins tbh

Rare to see 1 mil lanced and big bolts outside of it

Is Veins just a straight 2min CD or is it reduced by anything?

Reduced by shifting power

I think veins builds up to a 15% dmg increase or some passive along with it

If they play frost bolt build each bolt casted during veins increases dmg done as well

Ahh this is probably how they are getting the massive FF Bolt crits then. This build up of FF Bolt damage stacks. How much do they stack by?

Its a 2 min cd but you can give up a pvp talent and use ice form which lowers cd. It also takes the 20% haste away and adds 30% damage. In most cases, I find the haste more beneficial since you sacrifice haste for more damage in the hero talents. Instants can also randomly proc.

Outside of iceform, which I dont think most mages run, frostfire consistently hits for less than a million but you consistently can land a few crits for 1.1 or 1.2 most matches.

To land a 1.8 or 1.9million, its every proc up, orc racial up, icy veins, and someone in sheep for the extra versatility (i mostly twos and like the pvp talent). Or you can run ice form for big numbers but youll likely get less followup damage due to the longer globals/casts and how your flurry interacts with incoming damage.

Thank you this was helpful. So basically be on the lookout for Veins if I’ve seen the Mage get off multiple consistent casts of FF Bolt and expect a big crit once they pop veins?

Look up slick ice and severe temperatures. (I think thats what its called) Two different stacking mechanisms- one in frostfire hero talents and one in frost tree

Yes, during icy veins, if you let a mage cast, theu can kill your whole team if they are stacked.

Yea I noticed this when my Ret and I were stacked up because we were focusing the Warrior who was training me down. We both were just destroyed and the frost mages damage sky rocketed above ours by a lot.

Then again I’d assume a chunk of that damage was cleaving into my Zoo as well.
