Cheap and cheesy and i watch it about once a year lol
âWerewolfâ (itâs on Youtube). There was a series back in the '80s about werewolves, I think Chuck Connors (The Rifleman) played an older wolfman who had been around since the Ice Age preying on humans. Another more recent one just a few years ago on Scifi?
The list of good werewolf movies is very short but I have watched all werewolf movies and can suggest some stuff you may not know of. Iâll assume youâve watched An American Werewolf in London and The Howling already. In release order:
-
Werewolf of London (1935) - This movie is absolutely fantastic for 1935 and will surprise you. It lays a ton of the groundwork for adding weird sci-fi to werewolf stories. Also, please donât watch the god awful Wolf Man with Lon Chaney, that movie is trash and gets way too much attention
-
The Curse of the Werewolf (1961) - This is the best werewolf movie, IMO. An early Hammer movie ahead of the times with a really shocking premise of a story for any time period and showcases the amazing Oliver Reed in one of his first starring roles
-
The Beast Within (1982) - Clearly inspired by Curse of the Werewolf, this movie has a twist for the monster you are not expecting and Iâd recommend not looking up anything about it before watching
-
Silver Bullet (1985) - I would think Stephen Kingâs werewolf movie was well-known but I mention this all the time and folks donât know what Iâm talking about. This one plays into the urban folklore of werewolves pretty great. I would recommend this to anybody that loves Stranger Things
-
The Fly (1986) - While not a âwerewolfâ story, David Cronenberg makes the film he was born to make. His version of a manâs struggle with becoming a monster. This film is fantastic and you will never see Jeff Goldblum the same way after watching
-
The Cursed (2022) - Wow this movie is great. Itâs very atmospheric with some stellar camera work you just arenât expecting in a werewolf movie. The tension that builds as you learn the local folklore of the werewolves in question draws you in with similar themes used in previous films but under another layer of spookiness
I would say âgood,â but Red with Felicia day is a good watch if you like her
Loved that one as a kid.
Always cracked up when they goaded that one werewolf out with the catty insults, and it flips them off.
Hehe yeah. But again I get why some folks donât like that vibe with werewolves. I know the CG transformations in that are a bit. Bad. But I like the actual suits. Theyâre neat.
These along with teen wolf were what made an impressionable child really like werewolves well into adulthood, and made him swap to alliance and roll one of each class.
In addition to some great ones already mentioned, I add:
Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein.
All three classic monsters (Frankensteinâs, Dracula, and the Wolfman) are present, and it established the trope for vampires vs werewolves.
New one for 2024 year called âWerewolvesâ
Check youtube for the trailer
Old One? Bad Moon or Dog Soldiers
âWOLFâ (1994) jack nicholson
I thank you for bringing this one to my attention. I had not seen anything for Werewolves until just now, and now I have to watch it.
Dog Soldiers is my go to. We need more good werewolf flicks.
my man! Dont forget Bad Moon tho
new one for 2024 called Werewolves. Check youtube
Bad Moon is good too! Along with The Howling, Silver Bullet, American Werewolf in London, and Ginger Snaps. Dog Soldiers is my top for now tho.
I just checked out the trailer for Werewolves and it looks pretty good, 100% checking that one out when itâs out. Thanks!
Not sure which one you are into, scary or twilight like ones .
First one i ever watched was Ginger Snaps. Then there is Underworld staring Kate Beckinsale. Wolfman.
Cursed is a good one. American Werewolf in London. Underworld. Wolf with Benicio del Toro.
Obscure? Not entirely werewolves but
The Hound of the Baskervilles
Cujo
Vampire Hunter D
Teenwolf.
Anything before 2010-2012 ish.
After that and its all the junk we have now days with pre-filled roles based on something other then actual talent.
UmmmmâŚ
An American Werewolf in London
The Howling
Silver Bullet
Dunno, those three stayed in my head for decadesâŚ
PS, none of the werewolves sparkle.
