Yes, we had one in our house before WoW went live.

I was 24 when WoW came out. Living with my spouse, we both had jobs, we had cable modem. Prior to that, in 2002-ish? I dunno, we still had dial up, but switched about 2003 when we bought this place.

I had dial up until the end of Wrath. The Lich King was the first boss I killed on DSL.

Was actually funny - I managed to do 10 man raiding but certain fights would D/C me, such as Marrowgar. Also, I was one of the few who could successfully do “Frogger” and Heigan in Naxx without dying. XD We always found that hilarious.

But yeah, would not go back to that for all the money in the world. That was hell.

I will have to talk to my provider, love. I did not know there was anything other than dial-up to begin with.

No, I need the high speed for youtube streaming and other games. Also steam downloads and updates.

my last three laptops don’t even have a 56k dialup modem. i do have an external usb dialer but i don’t know of any local numbers to use for dial up networking

edit: the last time i used dial up to play wow was 10 years ago (on my one laptop with a modem), when cable/dsl was very rare in Philippines outside of internet cafes

I was just lucky, I was in one of the first roll out areas in LA and if you signed up for 2 years you got a free computer (gasp!). It was so new they were having problems selling it.

That’s really cool. I grew up next to Yosemite. It was so rural we were hitting dial up like we were napoleon dynamite

I had good interwebs in classic too. My dad got sick of me being on the game so often though so he switched to dial up around tbc era. That lasted a week before he couldnt take it anymore haha

Wow. Is this really who you are? Are you really like this? Is this really how you talk to people? Ouch.

If I heard my kid talking to anyone like this–anyone–she’d be off screen time for a week. Just…something to consider. That is all.
