woof fortuna woof. quite a spicy opinion.
for me i prefer oblivion over skyrim. it had the structure of an rpg but didnt have the annoying combat of morrowwind. only problem is the modding scene there is a small fraction of the modding scene of skyrim and is filled with drama. also the engine used by oblivion isnt as good as skyrims and is much more restrictive in what it can do in some aspects.
unfotrunately the aaa industry left crpgs behind decades ago.
Based on what Blizzard has been pumping out lately, no, not really lol.
For me personally? No, not really.
Iâd love some similar quests, and relatable storylines Skyrim has â but overall I muchly enjoy WoW for most of what it is.
Brother, what are you smoking? Every expansion Iâve ever played has at least 3 raids. Fully fleshed out, dynamic encounters, literally the best encounter design on earth. Itâs not perfect, but nothing else even comes close. Then they have anywhere from 8-12 completely distinct dungeons, with hundreds of different enemy types with numerous abilities each, and even more boss fights. No other game on earth puts out dungeons like wow.
How can you possibly say thatâs the bare minimum?
You and a LOT of other people, see a lot of posts of people saying they are heading back single player games or multiplayer/co-op.
Skyrim basically occupied the hours of time I would have otherwise spent on Cata/MoP/WoD. Between that and FO4 I think I got way more bang for my buck than if I had been playing WoW during that time.
Going back now I burn out pretty quickly on it but for that period of time I think it was peak single player gaming.
Really depends on how far back you want to look on this, but going back as far as WoD, it was a huge bomb and lacking a massive amount of content. They actually got it together for Legion and managed to deliver more than the expectation, with even a half-raid, 4 total true raids, and the Mage Tower stuff being added in as well as mythic plus being introduced.
BFA was alright as far as that goes as well, but since Shadowlands, weâve been starting this model of â3 raids only and we release the dungeons youâll see all expansion, and maybe a mega dungeon that takes 2 months to patch to be playable.â
We went from seeing mid-patch mini raids with a few bosses to a standard 3 and no more. Going from 4-6 raids an expansion down to a mandated 3 just feels like theyâre making this bare minimum effort, instead of actually coming up with some additional stuff for people to work with, as most of us arenât going to grind the new ârepâ they add with every patch. Itâs just not the same as actually getting a raid with some meat to it. And I donât think the community should just settle on being happy with almost half of the content that we used to get for the same price.
I agree that WoW has the best design of any MMO, but that doesnât mean that they canât do more. Delves are a good step in that direction, and these small events like Remix are a nice way to tide people over, as long as they arenât huge bombs like Plunderstorm was.
Spending time just making more content for the actual game instead of these side modes that people fall off of in 4 days, while it would take some actual development time, are better for the longevity of the game, especially looking long term, as people are still farming a ton of those older mid-raids for appearances.
But, we are most likely going to see more of the formula from here on as they basically confirmed that theyâre shooting for shorter expansion cycles for the next 3 xpacs. They havenât really expanded on what that means since announcing the expansions, but I doubt it means we will see more content than is dished out normally. But if it means the same stuff given faster, which means we see more content overall, Iâm all for it.
If weâre once again doing game combinations thatâll never happen, sure Iâll bite.
Skyrim? Pass. I tried to get into it years back but it didnât quite hold me.
Now a third person ARPG along the lines of Shadows of Mordor or a couple of the Assassinâs Creed games that Iâve played; travel through the world, navigating obstacles and sneak up behind an enemy mob to brutally murder them, thatâll open up my wallet quick.
Wonât ever happen, but Iâd be a happy dude if it did.
There was a mod for Skyrim for Azeroth but it was discontinued in 2017. Still available (according to the fandom about it) but it only had a few zones. Sucks it got discontinued, I would have given it a shot if it had been all of Azeroth.
Skyrim requires more add ons than WoW to be tolerable.
Skyrim is awesome, but a completely different game than wow. I love both.
Lately Iâve been wanting to play Diablo 4 more than anything. But I want to upgrade this guy fully before expansion for some reason.
Damn and I still havenât finished Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2 yet.
I got several hundreds of hours out of Skyrim just out of the box and with the official DLC.
When it comes to single player games mods mostly just break them, convolute them, or turn them into God mode, noclip facerolls.
And the major complaint was hey this coming out too fast slow down please.
What mega dungoen ever did this? Checking my achievements they where all playable and completed the day of release.
Do you remember those 4-6 raids per expansion? They had so much filler that didnât do anything and not to mention majority of the player base didnât even step a foot in the later ones.
Donât get me wrong I think fated seasons have been a bust and they are my time to play other games time but letâs not rose tint those goggles.
And I find Skyrim lacking without a ton of add-ons.
And most people find WoW lacking without a ton of add-ons or aftermarket improvements in the form of macros and UI adjustments.
Sure. I didnât say otherwise.
I even specifically implied I use add-ons for WoW in my initial statement.
No, not really. Skyrim is limited to a region from a world. Warcraft is a world, or several. Warcraft shouldnât try to be anything but Warcraft or it stops being warcraft, you know?
My hot take is Skyrim is one of the most overrated games of all time because the combat is absolute dog tier.
For years Iâve been wishing I could play the game as a single player version. I play as an escape from the outside world, so having to deal with people outside of work is not my cup of tea. Iâd happily just keep playing something single-player like Skyrim if they kept content updated as WoW does.
