Zone size and height for dragonriding was smaller than they wanted it to be. It’s why they mentioned it and said how much higher ceilings would be and how more open and large the new zones should be.
I personally hit more stalactites than tree branches. lol
One is a factual description of what Blizzard told us and showed us. The other is a comment on how we don’t know how those facts will feel to us, because we haven’t gotten into the beta for it yet.
I’m not sure why that was so difficult or how that’s contradicting at all.
From what we know so far, the single biggest disappointment is the recolored Dwarf reskin - rolling out a recolored Dwarf was not the right move imo, especially after Drackthyr flopped/wasn’t popular with the playerbase
They missed an opportunity for sure, even rolling the dice and unveiling playable Sethrakks/snake people would’ve gotten more hype from the crowd
Not enough details/information to tell on the rest of the product, we’ll just have to wait and see
If Earthen have Stoneform as a racial, then tons of Horde players can ditch our Dwarves and go back to playing Horde like we’d prefer.
Since Blizzard seems unwilling to adjust Stoneform, even though the game’s modern encounter design makes Stoneform by far the most overwhelmingly powerful racial in the game’s history, and make-or-break on many encounters.
First impression is meh. I miss the excitement from pre-Legion expansions. It just doesn’t reach that level anymore. And Earthen is filler but maybe they will have some function to make up for their disappointing form.
The devs like everything they do and think everything is a success, not knowing that since they attach things to the zone, of course people will funnel to it.
That said, I have no idea why they bother taking the expansion more underground and then just create a bio dome to mimic the open world. Seems odd… just keep it above ground then lol
I personally am not a fan of what is to come since they seem to be now just focused on spitting out content and not focusing on the world aspect of it… 4 zones, a raid, 8 dungeon template is now fixed in their dev brain.
Expectations are seriously low for war within at this point.
I know others won’t like or agree or w.e… but I would have hoped they’d just keep things in the old world… update stormwind and org… update some zones throughout the expansion and start working towards that sword, the titan story since that ultimately is the core thing that needs to be wrapped up soon.
ZC was definitely less annoying to fly around in than Emerald Dream. In an expansion where the main mode of transportation involves extreme vertical acceleration, they put the quest hub under a dang mangrove tree.
Getting around the tree is also a pain, as it’s large even by dragon flying standards. See? Terrible design choices don’t just happen in caves!
The game has these caves to explore, but their set up in a way to let you know which is a tunnel out of the cave, such as orange glowing coral, and the big caves themselves being very blue.
Zaralek is whack but it isn’t because it’s a cavern, it’s because every situation in that zone just sucks for a solo player. Don’t get too close to the elites! Don’t try to kill the bosses! Get very limited weekly niffen rep! Niffen are annoying anyway, so what the hell am I even doing there. It isn’t because it’s underground, it’s because it sucks in every other way.
On the other hand, deepholme is really cool and it’s one of my favorite zones. So conservatively speaking a cavern expansion could be (one of) the coolest. It’s actually far more likely than it being one big zaralek debacle. I’m really hoping they learn from their failure, they usually do, at least in my limited experience. They may be too big to turn these things around with any kind of quickness but I think calling zaralek a total failure in the time it was supposed to be current content is not being hyperbolic.
I hope they do it like the ARK Aberration map and have mushroom scattered about that if you walk too close to the spores do very damaging things to your body. That was a fun experience when I had no idea about the poison mushrooms prior to my screen starting a rave and my character was choking.
I’m of the same mind. I always really like underground areas. Zaralek is actually one of my favourite zones in the game. The zone itself was great, it was the gameplay loop in that zone that left me feeling eh. Low drop rates and rares that actively make it a pain for even a chance at an item is not fun.
Actually excited for the next expansion though. Bring on the underground ecosystems.
I’m hoping for at least one small city in the stalactites. (then again, that might just horribly break the camera angles)
Maybe some piercers that aggro anyone passing directly below them? (with a little targeting circle on the ground as warning when to releases from the ceiling)
I wonder if there will be a continuous river with waterfalls descending from cave to cave to the bottom? (am I right in thinking the zones will be stacked vertically?)
