Same. I play RPG’s mainly for the story experience but once that’s over, I never go back. Primarily because as you mentioned, it feels lonely because there’s no actual people around. As pretty and “realistic” as the world is, it’s still fake and everything in it is programmed to act a certain way. That’s why MMO’s will always be my main game, not for the story really, but more so the sense of life and community even if I don’t always interact with it.
I play about 1.5 hrs of wow each night and then i get bored. The only rpgs that i can play are dark souls. Still havent played elden ring but i will soon. I think gaming is a habit for me.
I’m a fan of complex turn-based and real-time strategy games. I have played all Civilization games since the initial release back in 1991. Sim City was good in it’s time, and I also enjoy Stellaris.
StarCraft 2 over LAN.
So much fun back in the day, off white piles of PC hardware and cables.
Wifey hated it so I had to sneak the parties in when she was working, one day she came home early and the apartment looked the part, hardware, gamer nerds everywhere.
You’ve never seen guys pack up a rig so fast.
i find it a lot easier as i don’t have to work with random people.
That “But…but I won…” dice roll moment near the end of the game still hurts in the best way.
I did.
Just bought because of your recommendation.
It’s very good, but I only have about 2 hours gameplay so cannot say much
What about quake 3 lan party
Depends on the game.
I like playing my own character. So I struggle a LOT with games like Horizon: Zero Dawn or whatever despite generally enjoying the gameplay. But what ends up happening is I binge it for several hours at once and then just never launch the game again.
Having my own character makes me more likely to care and keep playing a game.
So I have a lot of time (in single player) with games like Terraria, Starbound, Stardew Valley, Sun Haven, Baldur’s Gate 3, Divinity: Original Sin 2, and Skyrim.
But there are games that I have genuinely enjoyed in multiplayer that I can barely stand to play alone. Minecraft, for example. It’s such a creative-focused gamed. You can put so much time into making crazy stuff. But it’s just not fun to me if there’s no one around to either build it with or show it off to. If it’s just me I don’t care.
Also while I’m here:
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is amazing. I know I just went on about character creation, but this one’s an exception. It’s probably my favorite single player experience of all time. It’s not one with a ton of replayability so I only have like 16 hours on it (takes like 6-8 to beat it depending on how speedy you are), but honestly, give it a go.
No idea how the sequel played out. I feel like it’s a game that didn’t need a sequel. I’ll try it eventually but I doubt it’s better.
The sequel just won best actor at the game awards so there is that. The trailer for it is still rad
edit I forgot this trailers age restricted so Yoink. But yeah hearing Heilung in the trailer was dope
My favourite single player game would have to be elder scrolls morrowind, or oblivion.
