I’m still at like. Zero corruption. Just not bothering with it.
It depends on the content you are doing, but a lot of specs can handle <60 without too much issues.
wait, on the DH? We’re fine up to just before Inevitable Doom or whatever the heal reduction tier is. The momentary loss of combat uptime is offset by the corruption passive dmg. Unless you got to 58 net corruption with stat bonuses, but actual dmg corruptions more than make up for the second or two you’d have to fel rush out of the eye or away from the Thing from Beyond.
You are going to get your raid wiped with that much corruption.
I don’t go above 40 , the eyeball is annoying enough.
It’s not too bad. The thing from beyond hurts like hell admittedly, but if you’re in a situation that was already dangerous you can just use your cloak’s active ability to get rid of it.
Sixty or more corruption is when things start to get dicey. Going above eighty is when hilarity ensues.
I think your healer disagrees
I’m at 58 and it doesn’t really bother me much in real world or raids (maybe you should ask the healers in raids though ). Real world it’s a 20% damage hit but I can usually live through it. As for raids the healers can heal through it, though for certain fights (e.g. Xanesh when you’re navigating the orb into the portal) I drop my corruption down to below 40% and use the cloak on use to get rid of the eye or any slows. I avoid getting over 60 though, it’s not really worth it and not really fair on our healers.
I don’t think I’ve ever cleansed anything…I have my bank and bags full of corrupted items. Just in case Blizz does what they usually do (eg. with azerite pieces) and nerf/buff pieces mid stream. I would hate to have cleansed something that’s going to become BIS.
I have my cap at 79, while keeping all my corrupted items in my inventory without cleansing. If I were to equip everything, I’d be well into the 100s.
In M+ I go above 40 because I need all the help I can get. In raid I refuse to because the likelihood of me getting sniped by TFB and it killing me is higher due to the increase in passive damage. Also, the massive slow from grasping tendrils is more annoying in raid fights than your average dungeon pack/boss where mobility is largely “whatever”.
35-39 is recommended. 55-59 is the definite do not go past this spot.
I could probably easily run 59 corruption on M Wrathion since there is next to no damage (so standing in the stuff is whatever) and the slow doesn’t matter since you can’t move half the fight anyway.
The second you go above 59 though, every thing from beyond is lethal and they start running faster than a lot of people can easily react to.
Only the user is impacted and generally won’t cause wipes by one death. I say generally because a fight like M Illy’G does make every death an instant wipe depending on the strat.
alright, i’ve done HV with 4 masks with 58, it was fine (almost died when caught stun and thing spawned, was funny).
Although corrupt visual ruins tmog
Cool. Thanks for your input. Don’t cut yourself on that edge.
To actually answer the OP, I wouldn’t play with above 40. I tried using my +75 corruption ring before I had the proper resist and it was not a good time. I shelved it until I get a good amount of resist with cloak and essence.
I find 20 to 30 manageable. Sometimes it feels like the corruption procs more the bonus, so you need a good middle ground.
There is a DH who raids with us that is at about 50. Using two of the weapons of Ra-den (25 corruption each) and a 50 corruption TD item. I think with this weeks cloak upgrade he will finally get below 50 corruption.
Uh. How was my comment edgy? I’m not shaming people that like the mechanic
I’m sitting at a comfy 23 in my aoe gear and around 35 in single target
Or 190 area if I go ham and throw all my corrupt gear on
Just let it hit you. It doesn’t do too much dmg.
OP: anyone play above 40 corruption?
Actual discussion happens.
And then…
You: Oh I don’t use it, just want to reply here and make sure everyone knows that I don’t use it.
I sit above 25 but below 40, I like Heart of Darkness for flat secondary stat but good lord that clone is annoying, especially on a nonmobile class
