I mostly play my 2 healers and my DH but just dinged a fresh mage up.
Im struggling in 3s - if I cc hard im last on damage by 2mm or more which is about 20% off the top.
If I dont silence, sheep and peel then im still last but not as bad. Win/loss ratio both method equally bad.
I quite enjoy the frost mage control and survivability but im struggling with sustained damage. ( burst is reasonable )
I did have a few people in lobby PM me and say I was a pain in the backside and made their life hell so that was nice but im not getting the wins on the board and im definitely the weak link as Im consistently losing 2-4. Its a trash feeling knowing that im not pulling my weight.
Hopefully some experienced frost mages can provide a few tips so I can at least get to a minimum skill level and get 3-3 consistently.
Im using the iceyvein pvp build which seems reasonable. Im not getting attacked usually rogue / lock / hunter are enemy team priority so I have free reign I think its here that I need to be doing more.
Its a fair change from Yoloing in on my DH and getting top scores as well as 3-6 wins per lobby.

No idea but Setback posts here and he can offer tips (was top shuffle fire mage at one point which). When I faced him as Frost 1 time he just rotates spell schools when kicked so he is always casting something while dragging dps on him into bad positions for their healer and only using blink when actually needed. Honestly felt like trolling going him.

Highly suggest watching Aeghis’s youtube stuff and catching his stream everyday. He’s already like 2.8MMR as frost. He’s also very helpful in his chat. Depending on your playstyle you are going to be running shimmer or icy flows. Whichever feels more comfortable is fine. You’ll get sheeps easier as shimmer but you are going to feel 100% at healer mercy without blink stun and sitting full stuns. That being said I typically run orb/ring of fire/precog for honor talents as frost and just go for fake casts and precog going at people. Or you can just rotate lockouts and drag them to bad spots.
Lower MMR shuffles tbh you can just cleave most people down with ring of fire/orb and lance spam and big glacial shatter 1 shots. Basic stuff is like typical mage stuff, putting them in bad position, not overlapping healer defensives with block, protecting your alter if there is a purge and using greater invisi wall + images to dampen a big go on you.
My best advice is just mastering the basics and when you hit a wall study Aeghis up and down and Venruki (tho imo Aeghis is a much better mage these days) Both are great and Ven has always been OG frost. Aeghis is a more recent multi r1 mage but you can always see in his decision making and awareness he plays to win and Ven is sort of a more casual for fun mage (still really good at game)
Most mistakes when you see people playing better at much higher mmr vs your own and can summed up to positional mistakes on your end, decision making, your global usage and not watching DRs. Below like 1900 you can basically carry any game on your own. I haven’t frost since WOD im pretty scuffed and relearning it and I can still solo carry a game below 1900 without any real effort just off basics. You just gotta keep at it and see where your falling short.
I had no clue I went against you!? When was this on what toon? I ran into Kennie but I don’t remember seeing you on the Ret

Watch aeghis YouTube video that recently came out. He shows his talents. It’s a gameplay video so you gotta watch what he does.
Bottom right of his screen shows his ability presses.
