Wowhead and icy veins say that Razorice should only be used with Shattering Blade builds. Why would Breath builds take Razorice instead? Also what is “omnifrost?” Frost DK sounds a lot more complex than when I played it in SL.
I don’t play Frost very often but I recall there being a talent in the Frost Tree that puts Razorice stacks on the target, so you don’t need it as a Runeforge, allowing you to use SSG for the free stats.

The only time Frost used SSG this expac was early on with Rider+Oblit builds without Shattering Blade so you could spend the points reducing the CD on Frostwyrm’s Fury. You would run SSG on the offhand and FC on the main hand.
There are three talents in the Frost Tree that applies Razorice without ever having to apply Runeforge on your weapons:
- Avalanche
- Glacial Advance
- Arctic Assault
Razorice lasts for 20 seconds. That’s usually enough time for Frost Dks to use any of the three bullets above to stack. The Runeforge is mainly for Shatter Line since you apply RI stacks fast enough to expend them.
Since that Runeforge is now applied from talent use-case, SSG is used since it’s the next direct damage upgrade for Frost DK next to FC.
Omnifrost, if I have to guess, is the Frost DK that uses both Obliteration and BoS.
As for what’s meta… I’m not honestly qualified to say so take these information what you will.
