I wouldn’t say bored so much as horrified at how strict the content is to get a character to 60. I feel like I’m on a tight schedule and can’t deviate from the path laid out before me unlike in classic where I had more options and an open world to explore in. Throw in sharding, crossrealm, and other conveniences which discourage social interaction unlike the badgering done in vanilla when asking for groups and quests.

Then you have the whole progression situation where mobs level up as you do, power up as you gear up, and actually finding new gear isn’t what it used to be especially with dungeons that reward “Temporary Gear/Items” like Torghast and strip those away when you leave. I would even argue that my feral druid in 60’s vanilla dungeon crawls back in the day had a better time finding loot and progressing.

I feel it’s more productive to be drunk and posting here…hic!

Well getting no loot in this expansion plays a big part of that. The game just seems really unsatisfactory when you dont get rewarded for hours and hours of hard work.

Then on top of that, creating multiple alts is also painful because you have to run them through torghast along with your main, over and over again…ya no thanks.

As soon as I grind out what I’m trying to get, ill probably play much less or not at all until the new content patch.

Raider here… yeah I’m bored.

It’s not that there isn’t content to do, alts to level etc. It’s finding the energy to do it. Just… nothing is holding me.

Mythic Plus

This still feels all over the place with some dungeons feeling insanely overtuned (Plaguefall). While at the same time the difficulty swings week to week can be massive depending on the affix combinations. The low time/rewards ratio makes this a lot less fun than it was in BFA. In the past I never felt like I was wasting my time doing this… now I do.

The fights feel gimmicky and in some cases extremely non-intuitive (first boss NW) I shouldn’t see people wiping on normal for stupid mechanics reasons.

Raiding

Where to start… the worst time/rewards ratio in the game right now is raiding. The fights feel gimmicky as well. Overall it’s just not my favorite tier. It feels more of slog than a triumph to get a boss down and that doesn’t feel good or fun.

PvP

Going into arenas and getting farmed by gladiator level players selling carries does not feel good. Blizz needs to fix this and make sure these players get moved into the correct bracket so they can’t farm unranked players.

Leveling

Threads of fate had so much potential… and then it was wasted by forcing us to only do side quests and world quests. /sigh

World content

It’s there but the removal of things like Archeology, Glyphs, and other things of that nature hurt my motivation.

Overall

It just feels bleh… yes there is a ton to do. But finding the motivation to do it… is growing more and more difficult.

Dungeons (normal, heroic, mythic and m+) raiding (lfr, normal, heroic, mythic) pvp (rated and unrated BGs, rated and unrated arenas, epic BGs) achievement hunting, mog hunting, gold farming, pet battles.

I’m sure I’m forgetting some, but, there’s plenty of content in the game it’s just up to the player to find what they enjoy doing and not blame blizzard for “lack of content” when there’s plethora of it in the game

Raider here. Getting really bored outside our 2 raid nights.

PvP is unplayable on my main class (the competitives aspects of it anyway).

Gear capped an alt at 213, getting any more is just not worth the effort, the idea of redoing that process on a 3rd characters makes me want to barf.

Just have KSM to finish as a goal for this patch and im done, which ill prolly do this week end.

Time for a meta shakeup.

I raid at times, but yeah I’m pretty bored. I don’t do Mythic’s much cause honestly I don’t enjoy doing high level keys with randoms, nor have a guild with people I like playing with. So outside of that content there is only covenant stories and Torghast. I’ve already beat TC Layer 8 for the mount so that’s done. I guess I can try different class builds in Torghast but I don’t enjoy the content enough to keep going.

So yeah I’m pretty bored and waiting on more content at least.

Pvp, pet battles, legacy mount/mog hunts, m+, achievements, etc etc.

Not a completionist, not really into pvp, don’t care about mogs or legacy mounts like this community does, and definitely don’t enjoy pokewow.

Then why the hell are you playing right now if you don’t enjoy what the game offers outside of raids…

I have a subscription for a few months and I’m waiting on the next big patch. That’s pretty much it. I might also want to hop in to level some more characters out of boredom too, or trying something new when I feel like it.

Alt leveling, forgot to mention that. But seriously you should try to get into pvp. One of the more forms of content that doesn’t really get boring.

Mog hunting and creating mogs is pretty fun to, especially cosplay mogs.

I got goku, one punch man, batman, thor, superman, homelander, hawkman, cap, aquaman, ironman. It’s awesome, especially when people recognise it.

After the nerfs, PF has surpassed Halls and is now tied for easiest dungeon in the entire expansion, literally on the same tier as Mists. What are you talking about?

Can’t disagree with you there. I notice there are some folks who claim they love Castle Nathria and I just don’t see it. Even the likes of Preach who is a big raider has basically said he doesn’t like Castle Nathria. It’s like… okay at best in my opinion.

That actually sounds pretty hilarious. I think I’ve seen the superman one it looked great! I don’t know it’s something to do right? I might check it out.

And yeah casual pvp and maybe low rated battlegrounds might be fun. I die way too fast in arenas atm and have no idea what I’m doing for that to be fun. Maybe it gets way better, but from what I’ve seen it’s mostly people just trying to get others to blow their cd’s so they can burst you down.

I feel 100% as you . I stopped raiding at the start of BFA due to family and work , children . But was able to get geared through mythic plus and the weekly quests good enough to be slightly higher then heroic level gear . This expac forget about it , I’ll be lucky to break 210’. I don’t want to have to pvp for gear . Been over 3 months , im playing Dk Priest , I haven’t seen one weapon drop . Not one . It’s getting tiring . Torghast is a drag , I just try to do my 6 or 7 levels for my 1k ash a week . Anima collecting is horrible , haven’t been able to break 2k anima ,’so I’ll never get 5k . This is becoming pointless , I don’t feel like I’m professing my character… I can play maybe 20 hours a week , that should be more than enough to gear a toon but it’s not happening . The vault and weekly quests for gear give repeats every other time . Very frustrated with the game .

I cannot relate in the slightest. I do not raid. I do not PvP. I do not do dungeons. Yet my todo list FAR exceeds the number of hours in the day and things I’d like to do are getting dropped off the bottom of the todo list simply because of how long they take to do.

(That said, I was listening to a podcast about boredom the other day and researchers these days tend to define it more in terms of the desire to do things than the amount of things to do and think that the feeling is triggered by a loss of agency causing the brain to go “this is a waste of my time” … which is sort of relatd to my comment about things dropping off my todo list because they don’t feel worth the time)

+1

This is also the case for time-gated legacy content, at least for me. There are a ton of things I want from legion like artifact appearances for my alts especially the Balance of Power ones… They are nice and I want them, but not worth that amount of time to put into it.

Doing content that isn’t compelling or interesting doesn’t suddenly fix boredom. I was a raider up until this expansion. I ran M+ with friends up until this expansion. I also did a lot of other things outside of those two systems.

Shadowlands is just a boring expansion for people like myself. The current reward structure relying heavily on a weekly RNG chest removed the replayability of the progression content for me. I already cleared the raid and saw the dungeons. What’s there left to keep me engaged in them? Making them harder without making them feel more rewarding just makes them harder for no reason.

I’m not on the same page as the OP. I was a raider, given my goals were AOTC, but even with the raid the game is boring. A RPG without a decent reward structure just doesn’t captivate, and everything being based on a weekly lottery box that you can fluff up isn’t a decent reward structure.

They gated the game so far now that the only thing left that they didn’t gate (drops) is now properly gated in Shadowlands. I don’t want to play a game for a weekly pretend paycheck. I want to hit stuff and watch coins drop so I can collect them.

Nope I pace myself and am still having a ton of fun, but then my RL responsibilities ensure I dont get to play a lot.

I will freely admit I haven’t had a chance to run it with the latest round of nerfs. But the third boss still strikes me as one that has problematic tuning. Maybe not for M+ but for normal and even heroic definitely. Just like the first boss in NW, the mechanics aren’t the most intuitive for players that aren’t used to pushing content. It definitely feels gimmicky as well.

I’ll re-evaluate it after I give it a run in a key. But it’s on par with Shrine in BFA as a dungeon that honestly I’d rather avoid because of dumb mechanics.

Bugged?
As in how?

I keep reading this on how people can’t do this and that because of the scaling and then I wonder what they really are talking about when I walk into any legacy raid with it set to 25 player HC and wipe my butt with the entire place.
