I started playing in August of 2006, so Vanilla, but only about five months before Burning Crusade dropped. (My lord, how intimidating it was the first time you ran through the portal, having no idea what would be waiting for you on the other side!) This is my NE Rogue, my main, who has been questing throughout Azeroth, etc., for almost 20 years.
No one has posted here in this forum for a couple of months, but I thought I would check in to see if anyone remembered the days of Tanaris’ glories past. I’m encouraged by the subscription numbers I’m seeing for Midnight, though I know each new expansion peaks interest for a while before a gradual decline until the next xpac. I’m guilty of that, myself, at times….
After 20 years, I wanted to see if there was anyone left who remembered some of the characters from ye olden days, like Neff, Stonearm, Kissofdeath, or Omniaextares. Who remembers running between the bank and AH in Ironforge for years on end, thinking it was so much easier than running around the damned fountain in SW.
Does anyone still remember having to learn the intricacies of utilizing each class strengths and weaknesses to max out enjoyment of 5 player dungeon runs, like Gnomer, Stockades, or Uldaman? Does anyone remember pulling together 4 friends night after night to explore new experiences, instead of speed running with strangers for gear?
Folks who might remember when you actually had to band together , through thick and thin, to build huge guilds to tackle 40 character raids like Ahn’Qiraj, Blackrock Spire, or Gruul’s Lair? (And the poor mages who had to pull, hoping anyone else could wrest threat off of them in the first ten seconds before a wipe?)
I know, I know. I’m putting away the soapbox now, and really, I don’t even mind if you need to come onto the lawn to get your frisbee. Just reaching out to anyone else who might be reaching for the back cream, reliving the glory days of WoW in your head, as we all slowly decorate our new homes. (btw, thank you Blizz for the digs!)
