I don’t like Bastion.
Far too bright and noble for my tastes.

Fine except the pace is glacial, it feels REALLY slow. Also completely linear, as in on rails for the most part. I’m still in Bastion though so that might change. Everything else seems fine.
The most positive thing is that, as Horde, I am no longer suffering using Dazar’alor as my hub city.
Also, very few people, dunno if its an OCE thing or everyone raced ahead of me.
I’m in Kyrian zone. Absolutely stunning zone. I don’t even mount so I can soak it all in.
The end of the Maw starting zone creates tension and a sense of urgency to resolve what you left behind. I’m being vague so as not to spoil. Then in typical Blizzard fashion, the storyline side tracks you and creates this growing time gap between when the event that creates this sense of urgency occurs and when you finally get to act on it.
If you can ignore that, I find the storyline otherwise engaging and fun so far.
Some parts of Legion I loved, but so far, I’m only up to Bastion, everything (landscape) is reminding me of Argus, which I absolutely hated. It was literally the first thing I thought when I started last night. It feels like a carbon copy ‘to me’ but with that said, SL for me personally was a easy/smooth launch experience. I’m looking forward to progressing in the game… I’m keeping my hopes up. <3
addon edit: I wanted to add that some of the creatures in Bastion are incredible looking. <3
Well, I thought it started out a little slow but once I was getting through Bastion, I was enjoying myself. I actually started really having a good time in Maldraxxus. I find the story flows pretty well, it’s not too labor intensive and I am liking the flavour text and other sorts of eggs. I really do like when Blizzard does the storyboard type comic cutscenes, over the very dated looking NPC/PC cutscenes.
I think what I am really digging though is how much all of this is reminding me of Planescape with Stygia/Curst/Baator/Celestia, etc because in case no one here has noticed before, I am a FAN of D&D/Planescape.
I am currently 56
There was one instance in the Kyrian zone that I wish there was more sharding. The zone is gorgeous and serene. I’m running around killing some mobs for a quest and this horde DH comes rumbling by on his motorcycle and steals a camp of mobs I was 1 sec away from charging to. But thats been my experience with DHs in general since they were released
Quests were quests. None that special that stood out. Oribos seems like a cool city. Bastion is gorgeous. Killed a cool rare there that kept spawning rare animals to kill and drops a load of different one handed weps. That was cool. Lots of ganking. Got “the alliance slayer” title from a bounty. Tanked the first dungeon. I’m getting Diablo 2 vibes from the zones/dungeon. Overall had a blast.
Loved it. Great pacing, beautiful zones. The characters are well developed and interesting. The narrative beats are engaging. The idea of being sent away to an alternate plane of existence while learning about these different groups and their plights is a great foundation. The music as well is absolutely amazing…
Oh wait are we talking about shadowlands or shadowbringers?
I don’t understand why they allow people on the same faction to share kills but not the opposite faction. If war mode is off then why not allow everyone to tag stuff?
I went to the dentist and had a better time.
I really don’t like that nobody ever escapes from the Maw, but YOU are the champion. The beacon responds to you and you only!
Go save the underworld now, you’re our only hope Obi Wan Kenobi
Agreed. Even though he was a jersey, I helped kill the pack anyways. No credit, of course, but Fury whirlwind plus cleaving is so much fun
Yeah, I kind of rolled my eyes to that plot development. Makes it seem that after thus expansion we should be ruling Azeroth.
My only complain is no choice in starter covenant, everyone doing the same covenant at the start, asking if they accidentally chose already ect. That and a laughable story which is the norm i guess.
So far so good, i fully expected monday to be me looking at a huge queue, i was able to get in after maybe 10 attempts, and only saw loot lag and quest screen lag. No DC’s. No major bugs or issues.
Really it doesnt get any smoother. Im on an ancient full server too. Reports of the top 3 servers having prolonged logon issues however.
For day one, SL gets an A rating for mmorpg launches. Unexpectedly good.
There aren’t any ranks for gathering skills in Shadowlands, but you get more per node the higher your skill is. My mining it at 150 and I can get like 7 ore from a normal node, plus the additional stuff like stone or special ore.
Just needed Magni to call you champion one last time
eh. its a xpac.
kind of. handful of them are just astounding.
like bastion giant mech is awesome.
but in between awesomeness you just have the same old collect xyz
edit : the npcs you have to " escort " need to stop being a thing. i dispise waiting for jaina to walk 2 rp beats behind me
thissss is kinda my issue…
the side quests are kinda out there away from the main quests.
yea pretty good actually. allot of them are nice voice acting with a good backstory.
so many in my guild yet i was soooo late because server lag. speaking of
its 2020… its the 6ths expac.
how did they not expect this coming?
how did they not prep for this server malfunctions?
legion was great. bfa was terrible… sadly shadowlands is worse in terms of launch experience.
What’s with the ppl at Bastion having me the Champion , a literal Slayer of Gods do household chores like tidying up ?
NPC to you: “Wow, it’s you! The Maw Walker! The only person to ever escape the Maw!”
You: “Well… I guess…”
NPC suddenly turns away from you to the next player to show up: “Wow, it’s you! The Maw Walker! The only person to ever escape the Maw!”
It is blah for me. I am not wowed or excited for anything I have seen. If anything, questing in Bastion is kind of annoying with all of the running around.
