Any advice on a gaming PC?

I’ve heard good things about Maingear, Digital Storm, iBuypower, and Cyberpower.

5k?!

Let me save you a few dollars: the answer is 42.

I just bought this and it is performing well. I also purchased memory upgrades so it has 64gigs of RAM and added an additional 4T M2 SSD

First time we’ve used the brand, but I like the deals we got on these Lenova gaming machines from microcenter we got thru last year.

I bought one of theirs years ago. no complaints with it. Lasted a pretty good while. Actually longer than expected.

If you’re looking prebuilt Starforge has some really good PCs at a fair price. That’s where I got my last one and it’s been great.

If you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck I’d say to get the components from like a microcenter and build it yourself.

That’s what I’ll probably do on my next one.

7800X3D on AM5 (benefit of having some future cpu support and being the best gaming CPU)

GPU wise, if you’ve got that kind of budget, pick up a 4070s/4070ti s or 7800/7900XT until the 5000 series hits late nov/dec 2025 and pick up whatever 5000 series top end card gets released; 4090 is currently comically over its msrp and even worse value (not that it matters with a 5k budget).

99% of prebuilts are rip-offs price wise and get the added benefit of potential bloatware everywhere. If you really go down the prebuilt route, maybe falcon northwest?

if you get 4090. make sure you get a case where it fits well. the main problem with connectors was that the card is so big it barely fit and you had to bend the wires too close to the connector which caused the melting issue since some of the wires were disconnected in the process. that’s what i read at the time anyways.

that said, my 2080 super is still running rather well so until it dies i doubt i’ll replace that. a good card is worth it if you’re going to keep it till it croaks.
