Anti dungeon ditch mechanic

How about this.

If you start a dungeon run, the game puts a debuff on you for a few hours that prevents you from looting the same boss multiple times. Once you’ve finished the final boss of that dungeon the debuff clears off and you will be able to loot all bosses in that dungeon again.

Doing this would prevent people from just spamming dungeons for one boss and then leaving and trying again. This is super annoying, especially when tanks do it.

Still doesn’t counter the #1 argument against dungeon deserter which is that there are often legitimate reasons to leave a dungeon

I’ve taken that into account.

This thread has nothing to do with the dungeon deserter debuff. I’m confused.

Oh man are people doing that again? Flashbacks to groups refusing to do optional bosses in past xpacs. That’s some real nonsense.

They shouldn’t have put legendary recipes with low drop rates on dungeon bosses. People are going to the 1 boss they need and then leaving. It’s terrible design.

kk so you get halfway through the dungeon, and you start being verbally abused, tons of racial slurs being thrown around, group is really treating you like trash. Under your proposed solution the person being abused would be forced to endure that for the rest of the dungeon, or be unable to loot the bosses for a few hours.

I feel like thats not a great solution.

They would be free to leave and join another group, but they would not be able to loot maybe the first or second boss until they finished the dungeon.

Oh… I get what you’re saying now. And that’s a good counter. :+1:

So you’re essentially further punishing someone who was being abused by their groupmates?

That’s not a solution. That’s causing more problems.

Realistically they just need to put all leggos at the final boss, or make them heroic/mythic only drops and improve the rate.

I think the former is fine, but my leggo is already at the final boss so I’m probably biased.

Not saying there needs to be a solution, but an easier one would be to just put all the loot in a chest at the end of the run, Mythic style, for each boss killed. If a player gets vote kicked prior to final chest, they get any earned boss killed loot in the mail.

Unless a story driven dungeon, all bosses should line up and allow you select which door to open that releases them out into the open game world where we must hunt them down.

I guess you could try to prioritize dungeons in that person’s queue to begin where they left off, but I still think that a system that encourages players to leave dungeons early for loot reasons should be addressed over individual player drama.

Sounds like a PuG issue.

The flip side of convenience.

pretty much.

I still blame the player despite the design.

If someone wants to farm a single boss then make a farming group for that. Just leaving in the dungeon is rude to the time of other players that assume you’re there to help complete it.

You’re still wasting huge amounts of that persons time, literally for being a victim.

The “deserter debuff” argument has been made 1000 different times, and has been shot down every time, there just isn’t a good way for the game to determine if the person leaving had a legitimate reason or not and it is unfair to punish someone for leaving if they had a legitimate reason.

Its basically the ethical question: would you rather 1000 guilty people walk free so that one innocent person isn’t locked up?

Please Blizz? I’m so tired of replacing group members every five minutes.

Oh except, yeah, there definitely needs to be a solution. This is getting ridiculous. It’s really ramped up today as well. People are being utter crap about it. Just finish the dungeon, folks? Or make your own group to farm.
