Which is weird, because if they really did that because of his age (and it wasnt a mistake) that would be the perfect explanation.
Also, how many timeline changes are we at now? I feel there was supposed to be a time skip during or between cata/mop, legion/bfa, or shadowlands/dragonflight, but the official timelines keep tweaking things.

first and second wars were aslo orginaly much longer
then being like what a year now i think? both
was like a decade or so for 2nd war i think orgianlly
aslo skip ebtween wrath to cata where we had a peace treaty offscrene afetr varian had declared war at undercity, JUST so garrosh could break it and not let alliance/varian be the starters of cata conflict
Argus and nether was suspsoed to be very time is different!!! (thousands year of war and all, btu semeingly oNLY for alleria and turalyon and no one else)

Oh and i beleive nowdays tbc is actulyl liek half a year start to finish in lore

That is right the First and Second Wars got changed too in Chronicles. It feels like every other expansion we get told “x amount of time has passed” between now and the upcoming expansion only for a Chronicles or something to negate that.
