Another timeline Squish

It seems like the timeline is being squished again, with the 2nd war now being 30 years ago. https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/392758838891380736/1476083858570215555/image.png?ex=699fd5b8&is=699e8438&hm=98def3bfa265e04a7dc625a8c9d69a8b1c9134cee1ad7cb57dd73ffae0b66fd2&=&format=webp&quality=lossless

How is that a timeline squish? The second war was in 5 ADP (and Beyond the Dark Portal in 8 ADP, iirc), TWW is in 42. Not clear from the screenshot when this quote is from, to be fair; it would definitely help if you provided some context.

The context is muradin telling a story to arator about the 2nd war, said 2nd war being over 30 years ago ingame not under.

Why though? The time from 1st to 4th war was like 33-35 years. Did they just delete around a decade of years? How do they reconcile the billions of things that happened in that amount of time?

First war was exactly 41+ years ago, starting in year 0 and ending in year 3
Second war was 38 years ago, starting in year 3 and ending in year 6.
Third war was 20 years ago Starting in year 20 and ending in year 21 ish.
I think they are squishing the timeline to try and make arator seem as young as possible instead of a man pushing 40.

I said 1st war to the 4th war (bfa) is 33-35 years. I’m pretty sure. Or it was.

How do they cram so much stuff into a shorter time span? Would make things confusing wouldn’t it? Like does Arthas go through the wc3 human campaign in like a week now? How does that even work on a macro/micro level. Did he even sleep???

There isn’t even a year between first and second wars, Everything arthas does happens in like 3 years.

This feels like making a mountain of a molehill, ngl. I very much doubt they’re doing a “timeline squish” based on a single line of text.

i mean unless its “second war vet has absolutely no clue how long as actually passed since the 2nd war”

Muradin Bronzebeard is also Kurdran Wildhammer? Who knew :stuck_out_tongue:

I suspect this is probably more so an error on the writers part than a flat out retcon. I mean Kurdran saying, “Nearly 30 years ago” seems like it should say “nearly 40 years ago” which would be correct.

The problem with a timeline squish is that it would affect a lot of characters that have set ages during certain events, particularly if they were alive during and after the second war.

I’m willing to give the writer the benefit of the doubt in this case as it is a minor error that can and should be easily fixed.

When you pile a bunch of molehills it kinda hard to not notice a mountain

Those are all small and unecessary retcons that clearly shows they do not care about the lore and instead of making the story for the game, adapting to fit the establish canon, they just adapt the establish canon instead to fit their story

My bad, i know like 3 dwarves lmao.

Nah mate, you gotta remember – Dwarves are like dogs.
:dracthyr_nod: Those are dwarf years, not normal years.

It’s a common misconception — We’re cool

Is this part of a mad scramble to retroactively prevent Arator from being a 41 year old teenager?

Yes
thats exactlly what it is

While referred to as separate, the First and Second Wars were actually one prolonged conflict with a short pause.

That’s why some folks have problems keeping count.

They have to make the middle aged teenager younger somehow.

Ah come on Giru, you know 4. I’m a dwarf! I’m noticing a distinct lack of dwarves…

It might just be an inconsistency

He is half-elven… they age about half the rate of Humans. While he isn’t a teenager because of strict calendar definitiion, he’s still young by physical standrds.

That is not how it works. In wow dwarves and elves age the same as humans.

He is not, he is an old dude
