still bugged for like a week now, have yet to be able to swap bm for visions pick animal companion and get a second pet since i heard they buffed the damage. tried swapping talents dismissing pet, just doesnt give u another pet no matter what you do?
LOL a week and its still not fixed what garbageeee
Blizzards eternal war on BM. We wouldn’t even exist if it wasn’t for Rexxar.
Go to the stable and make sure you actually have a pet in your first stable slot.
The very same thing happened to me the first time I tried it out after the changes.

Animal Companion
Your Call Pet additionally summons the first pet from your stable. This pet will obey your Kill Command, but cannot use pet family abilities.
It summons first pet from your stable. If the first pet slot on stable is empty, nothing would be summoned.

Imagine complaining about something when you are simply just not doing it right. I use it every day. It isn’t without issues but this isn’t one of them. This is a you thing.

I imagine that if someone is having a problem for a week and finally posts about it, we should offer constructive criticism instead of, “it’s a you problem.” If you’re not here to help or discuss, what is even the point of coming to the forums? So you can make other people feel like dirt? Not cool.

From now on, blizz finally fixed most of animal companion issues.
For your case, try to put any pet in first slot of your stable.
- Make sure you have the Animal Companion talent chosen
- Go to a stable master and select the dialogue option for stabling a pet
- Make sure you are on the first page of all your pets.
- The very first slot on the first page in the upper left corner is the Animal Companion Slot. If nothing is there, wow can’t summon your second pet as the AC.
- Move a pet from somewhere else in the stable page to that very first slot (upper left corner slot) on the first stable master page.
- Exit the Stable Master
Summon 1 of your 5 pets and wait 5 seconds. The AC pet should appear within that 5 second window.

He called an entire company garbage because he didn’t read. You serious?
He called the situation garbage. I don’t see a rant about Blizzard up there. If the OP came in here with guns blazing, I could understand a little shade but judging by a couple of other comments, it was an easy mistake to make. So yes, I am serious.
Being a little irritable on the forums does not reflect on you personally and you’re probably a chill person. I understand. A lot of people making the sky is falling posts lately (not just lately). It bugs me, too. This just did not feel like one of those times to put someone down.

I used Animal Companion, right up until a wipe in M+ that I died on because I feigned but the second pet kept going and I got killed by AoE.
Animal Companion sims at like 1-1.5k DPS higher than Killer Instinct for me. There are so many tiny ways in which it’s an annoying talent to use that I won’t go back unless that DPS delta becomes substantially wider.

If you feign death, your pet does not feign death and depending on the mode it was left in (petassist, petdefensive, petpassive) it may continue attacking, If it dies then the aggro/threat it generated will revert to you.
This is not a bad thing but a good thing. FD is very useful defensively during combat (it can interrupt channeled ability, break targeting from a baddie, and there is a pvp talent that drops debuffs) . With combat still ongoing you want your pet to continue attacking and doing damage.
In the Legion class hall, there is a guy who sells the Fetch and Play Dead pet abilities (once learned they work for all pets).
- Fetch, allows you to remotely loot a corpse (target corpse at range, cast fetch, and your pet loots it for you)
- Play Dead is a Feign Death for your Pet. Wake Up is also taught and is the only way of getting your pet out of “Play Dead” mode besides Dismissing it. Play Dead automatically converts to “Wake Up” once you use it. Play Dead and Wake up are also off the GCD.
So a macro like this:
#showtooltip
/cast Feign Death
/cast [mod] Play Dead
Activate normally and only you FD.
Hold down a modifier key (ctrl, shift, alt - assuming those aren’t keybound to something else) and activate the macro and both you and your pet FD.
And as long as FD is on cooldown you can hold the modifier down again and activate the macro again and Play Dead will be Wake Up and your pet will become active but unless you direct it to do so, it won’t start attacking anything.
