Actually in his spare time he wares leather chaps and says to Baine “spank me daddy”
No, failing over and over as a youngin with his father, disappointing him for years by trying and failing means he sucks at being a fighter with a sword. Check the Son of the Wolf comic for that.
Like, he canonically is bad with melee weapons. That’s a spoken point.
And he grew up. And is king now. And was in the middle of a battle with all of the Alliance around him. He was fighting pretty well there. Past does not dictate present. Years have passed and he had to be king.
He fought terribly. Did you watch it? He only shone when he dropped the sword and started healing. There was a cinematic purpose to that.
Not sure what being a king has to do with it.
Rhielle, there’s no point in arguing against canon. They have literally come out and said he sucks at melee combat. Don’t bother.
He didn’t fight terribly. If he had, he’d be dead. He fought just fine. He’s not his father, but he’s still capable.
And being king means he’s in charge of the armies, means he’s trained in combat and has had to learn to be in charge of combat. Sure, he has Genn and his advisors, but he’s still out there on the front lines with them for a reason: because he has to be. That’s his job.
Nowhere in canon does it say “Currently, Anduin sucks at fighting as the king.” Do you not understand how growing up works? How being in charge and trying your best works? He’s not an invalid. He’s not the worst in the world. He can wield that sword just fine. He’s just not some amazing fighter like his father was. And he wasn’t meant to be. But he’s still capable of doing his job.
Typical of you. No, you’re not always right. In fact, you’re quite often wrong in your interpretations.
I’m out.
Logically yes, but no one else follows that logic. Almost every leader fights on the front line. Tyrande fights in a dress. Half the horde leaders are half-naked in battle. Genn was right next to Anduin and he was wearing his usual coat. Jaina in BDA was in robes and survived being in the middle of battle just fine.
Also his HOTS model still has armor. It’s just less bulky and has some robe elements to it so it still has a priestly vibe. So would still be practical in battle but not cause the confusion that it has for some.

npcs are never held to the same standard as players its been this way for years I mean look back at the escape from durnholde Thrall steals that one bosses horse and rides off on it right after stealing that plate armor from the castle but he was supposed to be a shaman even then yet he was wearing armor that the players class cant
Paladins are technically priests…
Just more dedicated to they’re path of religion
so ya, paladins fitting.
got a good amount of years to try out being a paladin too.
He is the king of stormwind, son of varian wrynn.
Do we really want him running around in a war wearing robes and a staff?
Robes aren’t really the best to run in to be honest.
Robes aren’t dresses.
This explanation is a cop out, there are so many characters that are also important that don’t wear plate 24/7, for the sake of the story if Anduin is supposed to live then he will, whether or not he always has plate on.
He was saved by Genn though
He still sucks at fighting with a sword though
Nowhere does the law say a king must wield a sword. Especially when Varian came out and said their next leaders need to be healers.
He’s trained in healing per Velen, not fighting. Varian tried and Anduin couldn’t pick it up.
I’m right though
Like literally, just read the lore stories. You clearly don’t.
Well, Anduin is taking after his father, trying to be a warrior king. Armors in WoW are actually very useful as seen by spell reflect, metal do reflect magic. With that said, wearing a dress on the battlefield is really unconventional, he basically would be a giant target and that troll shield guy would have just slashed him in 2 secs.
With that said, he still uses priest abilities, using a sword as conduct, instead of a staff, he does use an attack similar to smite after all, plus that mass heal, no Holy Pally heals AoE like that.
EDIT: Aw man, I hate when I start repeating “with that said”.
Of course its a Night Elf.
Anduin is wearing cloth. It’s just that he’s transmogged the look of his Wrynn family heritage armor over his normal armor.
I do wish we could get a more slender Anduin wearing cloth gear. Not every non-Kul Tiran human man needs to be orc sized.
Varian being huge checks out, given his history, not so much Anduin.
But maybe I just really want a Priest in the spotlight. Paladins are all over the place.
Yes, but they’re not anduin. They are not the king of the head faction of the alliance.
No, no, no…you got it all wrong.
- His father was a warrior, so he got promoted from priest to paladin.
- His father gave his life for Stormwind. So, he ( Anduin) got a place to sit on his father throne.
- His father, gave him the relic sword. So, he claimed it and made it bloodied.
- His father, did many things. So, he gets to sit on the high horse and act like he owns the world.
Srsly, tho…he is not fit to be a king nor a ruler of the alliance and not even a priest. He actually seems to to be suited well in Goldshire…
Anduin digivolves into a paladin the moment his father died
