debatable. if you love rng and regrinding the same m+ loot every season then stick with wow.
But the difference in xiv is mechanics come in extremely predictable fashion. You don’t even need addons (but people still use things like cactbot anyway) to know what’s coming if you’ve seen it before. If a boss has xyz mechanic he will throw X out then Y out after then Z. It’s why a boss in ffxiv usually has a ton more phases than wow, because they need enough to last a whole fight and that’s where alot of the memorizing comes in.
A mythic boss has less mechanics but might throw y first then add x on the pile while you’re still dealing with x, then the next pull he wont. Wow is alot more ‘‘chaotic’’ in general. They’ll vomit several things at you at the same time on some pulls and some others no.
Watch a limit stream and listen at how many times the guy says we got good rng or crap rng on the same boss and same mechanics over and over.
Nice to see some constructive conversation there. It wouldn’t just be trolling someone and name-calling would it?
Unless you count the one shot mechanics that start mid level if you don’t do certain fights a certain way.
Personally I find XIV harder earlier on than WoW has been in a long time. Getting into high mythic keys they’re similar in a lot of ways, but if you’re talking highest end, then WoW would be harder on account of the timer more than anything.
Raiding I think is about even, depends if we’re comparing apples with apples.
Even then mechanically wow is not hard to dodge these mechanics. In a mechanically challenging game say like dark souls you have at most a 1 second to dodge before your hit wow gives you atleast 5 seconds to gtfo out or react in someway. It is not mechanically hard as a game in the traditional sense its more of a challenge in concentration. If you gave a datk souls player the time window wow gives you to react on a given boss he would easily clear.
Because getting ton of crap thrown at you without being allowed to fail is alot harder than being allowed to fail 8 times and still be alive. If we’re going by your logic there’s no game on earth that’s hard. If mario 3 only gave you 1 life and had no items is it just artifical difficulty? The goombas are the same after all.
Not just level sync, but level sync + min ilvl means you can fight bosses exactly as they were intended when released and not just over gear them even if your level is set to the appropriate level.
Combat in FFXIV at about 50 picks up the pace and by 60 it’s quite fluid and well paced.
17
4 tanks
4 melee dps
3 healers
3 physical ranged
3 casters
(Not including Blue Mage)
I wouldn’t say the worst thing I’ve ever seen, but it definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Worst part about it is, if you own a house and you want to keep your house, you literally can’t unsub to take a break from the game. If you don’t enter your house once every 30 - 45 days your house will be deleted and the plot put up for sale for someone else to buy.
Yes, but every class has a lot of abilities that are not on the GCD that are meant to be woven in between each one, but you don’t start really getting any of those until level 35ish.
Agreed. It’s can be annoying to want to move onto the next ability but being stuck in a .5 second animation that prevents the use of any other abilities.
This is only a thing for the starter classes. All the jobs acquired at level 30 or higher do not have a base/advance class, they are just that class.
Yes, FFXIV doesn’t let you go out of bounds. Like all other games don’t let you go out of bounds.
To be fair, the timing of the mechanics in FFXIV is predictable, the difficulty comes in how multiple mechanics overlap. Pretty much every mechanic in FFXIV works one of several ways that are either chosen randomly or happen at specific times to overlap with one or several other mechanics or happen several in quick succession, so as if you do any of them wrong you and potentially others die.
Precisicly my point its artifical difficulty its the tuning that makes mythic hard NOT the mechanics. Wow has not and never will be ij the conversation fir mechanically hard games because it just isnt. Is mythic raiding still one of the hardest things to do inbl gaming? Yes, but not because the mechanics are hard its because the numbers needed are janked up to to the extreme to make the mechanics feel hard.
It’s also a console game.
Can’t imagine playing WoW on a legit console and not have addons. People would cry so hard.
Let me ask you then what game do you think is hard.
This is one of the worst features in FFXIV. If it were optional like in WoW, that would be one thing. The biggest flaw is they don’t scale spells and abilities energy costs down with you.
Mechanically challenging in the sense of actually dodging mechanics and timings? Dark Souls, sekiro, bloodborne etc fast tempo small windows to react etc. Hell even csgo mechanically is harder at higher levels to master than wow. In terms of sheer numbers needed WoW and Ffxiv are both hard just not in the same way.
That pixel perfect placed smoke nade
I actually meant them in XIV for that part. And they don’t one shot the couple sleepy players at the back, it’s the whole group that gets smacked in the chops.
This cant be liked enough nothing sucks more than your teammate claiming he knows the smoke and leaves a gap which leads to you all getting sprayed down.
Well I’ve mopped the floor with dark souls 1 2 3 all on ng7 with nearly every weapon build you can imagine. Dark souls is very much ‘‘easy’’ too after you’ve done it enough. The bosses have set mechanics too with telegraphs warning you what’s coming next.
If you want ‘‘forever hard’’ then pvp games the only type of games that can do that, cause it’s not controlled by an ai with a set of parameters that can’t change.
I did 3 years in CS:S ESL Open
It could, but they’d have to redo how they do fights. FFXIV fights have very obvious tells about which mechanic is happening and which way so you don’t need DBM/Bigwigs as long as you’re paying attention. The tells for mechanics aren’t really obvious most of the time in wow because fights are designed with DBM/Bigwigs in mind.
For the general duty finder no, because let’s be honest, if you’re just doing your roulette, do you really want to spend 10 minutes on an old boss and potentially wipe? Or do you just want to get it done. The option of level sync + minimum item level gives you exactly what you’re talking about. You get scaled down to the correct level, and your gear is scaled down to be the bare minimum item level needed to do the boss, giving an accurate experience of what the fight was like at current.
Uh… wut?
Wrong on all accounts, sweetie.
FYI You have to rent retainers beyond the 2 that are given. Each retainer holds up to 175 items. Each retainer can only sell 20 items each on the Market Board. So you can’t have 2000 transmog or glamor items up.
There is no way to increase your inventory space you are cap at 140 on your toon.
To be fair, they are probably talking about how when you do your leveling roulette and you get sastasha you may be scaled to be level 18 but your gear still for exceeds the content making it trivial at best.
