this is something that really doesn’t affect gameplay (unless you loooooove Rp) Should more customisation be added? oh for sure… WoW is light years behind other MMOs in that aspect. I wish they had someone whose job would just to be add 1-2 new things to customization every patch.
After BFA though… gameplay and classes need to be fun.
I love how void elves are now blatantly identical to blood elves

What I’d like is for them to add a lot of customization. Lower the flood gates and let people make whatever kind of character they want via customization. Some base line stuff that every race should get. Beards, tattoos, scars, and jewelry.
Ideally if they actually care about adding new customization they should like you said add new customization every patch, but what I’d propose is to continuously funnel new customization to players as they make it throughout and during every expansion. Not only that but adding new customization for every race based on events or themes fitting during the current expansion.

What can I say? I find poorly-written lore offensive. Moreso when it is tied to something that has been asked for since vanilla WoW. I’ve said it before, but VE’s introduction was something Blizzard needed to absolutely nail, but they instead botched it. Not to mention that if VEs had been a natural evolution of high elves through solid lore developments, the high elf threads would have literally stopped after the Argus patch hit two years ago.

Well, if they don’t wear helms we’ll be able to tell by their hair.
As far as I know so far VE’s will not have blonde or white hair, nor will they have the BE hair styles.
+1 OP.
aside from the people that RP this is kind of a dead horse…
just embrace the fact that blood elfs = pandarens 2.0.
Blizzard could send every player a wish granting unicorn holding a gem encrusted gold platter piled with home made cookies wrapped in $100 bills, and someone would cry that the bills were old.
I personally think all the ‘customization’ is a waste of resources. You can only change the appearance on your character so many times, it isn’t content that is going to keep most people entertained on a daily basis.
Customization is a huge deal to me and enhances my enjoyment of the game far more than daily chores and never ending gear grinds ever will.
I give a great big THANK YOU to Blizzard for giving us more options overall and especially for providing a High Elf compromise that I believe most pro-helfers can live with. I’ll tip my hat even more to Blizzard if they give us a few NPC blurbs explaining the why and how Alliance High Elves are becoming Ren’Dorei in a bit of detail just to flesh out the background and explain the new customization options.
But even if that doesn’t happen, Blizzard made me very happy with the latest announcement and I will gladly give them props for that. I find it so refreshing to have positive things to say about Blizzard! I hope they continue to give me reasons to shower them with praise!
Very happy to see the new customizations, a welcome addition for sure. I hope they don’t stop here either, maybe a team that is constantly adding new customization as they are able to create them, class and race themed armor would be amazing. (Things like this will make wows customization ahead of the curve vs other mmos.)
How is giving blood elf skins tones to void elves a good thing? Copy/Paste. Now you have our most popular race on alliance. It’s redundant and we might as well split up the factions if we are going to do this.
Kind of like how Blood Elves were only given to the Horde to even out the factions. And now that the Horde outnumber the Alliance they’re trying for round 2 electric elf boogaloo. Also I wasn’t just talking about the elves, I was talking all around, the racial edits for blacks, asians, etc for Humans, all the new hair and beard styles, the faces, all that good stuff that’s just nothing but healthy for the game.
At this point I dislike the wait we went thru to get these customization options in. That and the ruckus that had to be kicked up in order to get the high elf options to begin with was massive considering they where a such a obvious race in the storyline. It’s like pulling teeth just to get obvious stuff that other gaming companies would have handed us years ago as part of the natural progression. It’s frankly exhausting. Blizzard holds out on hill’s prepared to die over the smallist of things.
I just wish it didn’t take so much. I feel like I’m in the middle ages as a poor person trying to convince the church to possibly allow women the freedom to wear pants. it’s that much of a fight for every friggen little thing.
We all do
… especially now.
Every race by nature can have a connection to the Nature or Emerald Dream it’s just a matter of a person wanting to dedicate themselves to doing it.
Has nothing to do with your Race as lore has pretty much gone over.
There are literally High Elves going from stormwind to the VE starting area to start learning dude.
It has everything to do with your race. Something has to establish a connection and typically your race should have an affinity for nature.
Night Elves have Cenarius and their entire culture built in Druidism.
Tauren have the Earthmother.
Trolls have Gonk.
Kul Tiran have the Drust and Ardenweald
Worgen have Goldrinn
What do Blood Elves have? Nothing.
I mean the Sin’dorei and Quel’dorei do have a connection with Nature itself albeit heavily tied to their Rangers engrossing themselves in their woods and more (The whole point of them originally was they cared deeply for their lands including their forests.)
Rangers go as far as using Nature Magic to various degrees as well, so implying they have zero connection at all is just wrong.
And again Lore has stated itself that you don’t need those inherent connections merely to be engrossed with Nature itself to such a degree that one can become a Druid.
several of the customizations are very bad for lore.
other than that, yes, they’ve done somewhat acceptably.
