Am I wrong to be afraid of mythic +?

One thing I’ve been doing is making my own groups and usually putting chill relaxed etc in the title has been good so far…

Good point. I forgot about that. If “Chill group” or “relaxed” is in the group title, it usually means someone is learning or they don’t care if they deplete the key. Target them first :relaxed:

Mythics+ are far from fun. LAWL

best bet is to just pug lower keys if youre not going to run with your guild/friends.

once you get a comfortable feel for the dungeons and how you handle pulls and stuff, start going a bit out of your range.

my team stayed on like, at best 5s for weeks until we felt comfortable with our communication and handling of dungeons and affixes. you wont stop being afraid til you do it

I’m afraid as well. I know my main (Holy Pally) is a great Healer; I’ve been Healing since BC, however, I’m still scared.

I’ve really only had good experiences in Raids and Dungeons, but I’m so afraid of stuffing up and letting people down.

My horde character isn’t really geared, otherwise I’d help you run some. I tanked M+ last expansion, not so much in BfA. I only started to do so in 7.1, by that time most of the other tanks already knew how to run the dungeons like the back of their hand.

questionablyepic.c om (Blizzard won’t let me post links on the new forums :\ )This is a really great website for getting an overview on what to do, what trash mobs to pull and so on. It even has a breakdown of what %'s you should ideally be at on each boss, for each dungeon. It also has the dungeons broken down in a step-by-step way, so if you use your phone while running the M+, or have it open on another screen, you can quickly change to the next section, to see what to do.

If you’re anxious about a group reacting badly, check for groups that have something like “Chill run” or whatever in the description, you can also put it in yours with any groups you decide to list. Most serious players do read the details for group listings. You can also run the dungeons on lower difficulties, to get a “Feel” for them.

Hope this helps.

My advice to you is find a couple of friends, guild mates that you will feel comfortable with and are willing to learn from mistakes and such and run some lower ones till you feel comfortable to run higher ones… move up slowly, dont try to jump from a +2 to a +8

I agree with this. Find a few friends or join a guild and make friends. M+ is 1000x better when not pugging.

Well, after reading every comment in this thread has set my mind at ease somewhat. I have a BDK that I’ve had for years. I tanked in WOLK pretty hard. But now there are Mythics. Which is a whole new ballgame.

I plugged a Mythic 0 and now have a +2 key. I’m going to take the advice from all of yall and just “Do it”…

I’m not afraid of dungeons themselves, I did a fair amount of weekly +10s in legion, they weren’t really that hard if people were paying attention and knew how to play their class. I am however, afraid of the mythic+ pug community.

Mythic plus pugging is a blast. Start low and work your way up slowly regardless of your item level. Look around, enjoy the sights, pay attention to the mobs and abilities and affixes & different strategies. Buy a bunch of food from AH (crit food is usually cheap) & I usually carry a few Coastal Healing Potions for dire emergencies (like if it might prevent a wipe - too expensive to spam constantly). People might say to flask but don’t worry about it until things start getting serious… no need to burn thousands of gold on pugs when it’s almost a 100% guarantee other people won’t be optimizing, or may be running with empty gem sockets, unenchanted weapons, and generally horrific itemization, and let’s not talk about rotations and cooldown usage :D. Bottom line is if you’re here making this thread, or this thread is you, & you’re worried about your performance, then it’s already a guarantee you will be a good benefit to the M+ scene just by nature of caring. Get out there and pug some +2s. So much fun. Look forward to seein ya ingame

Thank you to everyone who commented. I’m reaching out to someone on the thread who suggested I join their guild and hopefully get my feet a little more wet. You guys are the best !

As someone new to M+ as well, I find the way I overcome my initial fear is to go in prepared. I’ve been reading M+ guides on wowhead that cover every ability in the dungeon as well as the optimal route to take. I then make weakauras that will trigger when high priority abilities begin to cast so I know when and what to interrupt.

Basically I’m leaving nothing to chance. May seem a bit overkill but if the blame game starts I want to be able to point out exactly what went wrong. Also Method Dungeon Tools is amazing!

i tanked a m+ 10 i think in legion. I was very nervous thinking i would wipe the group repeatedly and get blamed for running up the time. But we did pretty good and only had 2 wipes i think. Go for it!

Just keep running an pulling everything. If you die blame the healer, if things don’t die blame low dps. Your only job is to keep aggro. Everything else is someone else’s job.

Nothing wrong with a lil anxiety. You just gotta learn to force yourself to do thing I have over the years even if inside I really want to jump out the nearest window(I’m no exaggerating on that one).

Method Dungeon Tools, thanks for the pointer, I’ll check it out. I’m in the same boat, not really wanting to tank 'cause I’m expected to already know the instance perfectly the first time I run it.

Setting up your own group as tank or healer is a good way to avoid, or at least be able to do something about, the annoying players. I’ve tried using descriptions such as “learning group”, but maybe “chill and relaxed” would be better.

Maybe we can all just make that a thing, use that exact phrase so it can be searched for in group finder.

I only do Mythic+ with my guild because I’m not anxious to be involved with unknown players for something with M+ requirements. We have fun, help each other out and try to move fairly quickly - but if we blow the timer, we don’t make a fuss about it - there is always next time. I don’t think I could cope with the mad rush of pugged M+.
