I find retail extremely boring. Is it worth making a classic toon. Whats the best server for both alliance and horde?
classic era is fun
join mankrik if you want PvE, otherwise join whitemane
do not play “classic wrath”. it’s just as bad as retail
Fun is what im looking for. I just want to smoke a bowl after a 12hr shift. Level a toom and explore, maybe run into other players and team up to kill an elite, or maybe a friendly dungeon. Nonrace to level cap, no 30min M+ bullsh%$
As a long time wow player. I am having a tough time coming up with a good reason to log in. I’m not hype for Ulduar or ICC for that matter. I might take a break and look to play something else. Might check out Swtor (always kept me busy for a little while) again. Hopefully TL is decent enough to play… and I’m super excited for Riot’s mmo. But that is probably a couple of years away.
Back to PoE. =)
If you haven’t played classic before i would suggest either playing in Wrath or wait for the second season of mastery/fresh classic server release. You can play classic era but it will be an underwhelming experience.
Don’t listen to doom sayers — classic era is fantastic right now. Some of the most fun I’ve ever had in level 60 OG wow across 2004 launch, private servers, and Classic WoW reboot.
Classic Era, despite “low pop” servers, is a much higher concentration of people who just love OG vanilla wow. There’s no race to the end mentality as it already “ended”. Way less emphasis on min/max, more emphasis on having fun.
I play on Grobbulus which is only active Ally side with one guild, but we’re having a blast and progressing on raids. More players and guilds on Mankirk and Whitemane who have cleared all content.
It’s what you make of it. The games a blast. Best game ever made IMO… I never get bored.
Hop on in, hope you have fun!
I prop up Jarls guild. seems like a great dude. I would roll there if my tism wasnt off the charts for fresh activities. Grobb seems the play for anyone wanting to just play vanilla 100%. Even past whitemane/etc
And to be clear, I know a single guild server isn’t for everyone!! I view people joining Whitemane or Mankirk as a win too.
The more people who get into classic era, the better the community as a whole, and the more blizzard activi$ion will be willing to inve$$$t in this versus call of candy crush warfare meets the lich king v69.
And above that just want folks to know they can have fun on classic era TODAY if they want to.
I do hope for fresh one day my dream is:
-
Persistent Phase 6 Classic Era servers (what we have today)
-
Seasonal Fresh servers (ideally a 2yr timer) which feed into Classic Era servers at the end.
-
Classic+
Kill of SoM and the half in half out changes. Just give us fresh seasonal servers of Classic WoW, and go all in on the changes with Classic+, new zones, new content, etc.
Seems like a win for everyone, but I don’t think blizzard will invest in such a niche thing tbh. They see how much money games like hearthstone, cod, and candy crush brings in… that’s where they put their resources. Non retail wow is basically a pet project for them that grew out of the need to kill off private servers.
Anyways, OP, get in there with classic era and come smoke a bowl and unwind. It’s freaking great. I leveled 1-60 basically by myself as a single player game, and had a blast. Lots of folks on Whitemane and Mankirk these days leveling. And I’ll welcome you to come to our little backwoods server of Grobbulus if that floats your boat too.
You can come play with us in WotLK, which will have another year of life probably before the content dries out and we get the eventual Cata/trilogy rerun.
If you want the vanilla experience (the best version of wow IMO), you can try Era which is gaining traction lately, or you can wait for the anticipated SoM2 which I hope is happening soon. You will definitely see a bigger crowd for SoM2 just cause fresh.
It’s really your call. Personally, I’m just raid logging in Wrath and waiting for fresh.
Difficult question to answer, but considering it’s free with your monthly subscription, what do you have to lose?
Mankrik on Alliance side always has people on. If you join (or anyone for that matter) the guild I’m in Deadmines Distillery always has people on. Hope we see you play classic era either way!
Both horde and alliance on Whitemane (PVP) have had a large population boom recently, and they continue growing. Mankrik (PVE) alliance seems to be the MOST popular. I just leveled a character on SOM and transferred over to Whitemane and have been enjoying it so far! Seems like there are lots of new people leveling and end game content like raids every day.
