I queue with friends as resto on my shaman, but I don’t think I’d go into a random as a healer. Too much can go wrong.
Nope. It is rather pointless, in my experience any time there is a ‘healer’ healing people die more than when we don’t have one.
I think the IE kick problem is people are working with the assumption that if you kick someone there is a better chance you’ll get loot at the end. Think crime drama cliche, robber gets shot, “now were only splitting it two ways.”
If that assumption is true, it shouldn’t work that way. If not blizzard could do a better job communicating this with sticky post, tips and maybe even a notice in the launcher.
Wow reading most of the responses here kind of solidifies my desire to never do expeditions ever again.
But:
If the OP did NOT heal them, they probably would have kicked for that too.
I find them kind of fun if your with two people you know. Better than Warfronts or invasions by a long shot.
Anything that will actually kill you is avoidable.
Iv only ever done islands as rdruid and have never been kicked…
I doubt it - they likely wouldn’t even have died.
It’s easy to say that as a Pally, isn’t it.
Well, yes, but it’s easy on both my shaman and monk as well.
I think it depends. If you have 2 squishies, then having a healer wouldn’t help as much as an extra dps. IMO a healer will slow it down and could cost the win. There are also tons of food lying around the island for people to heal themselves plus everyone should some of their own you can buy from a vendor.
I wouldn’t kick a healer but I would prefer the healer play a dps or tank spec at least.
I’ve never kicked someone for being a healer but everyone is right.
You do not need a healer for normal or heroic IEs. Since it’s a shared loot pool now speed is the goal. Best case, 3 High Dps toons with self heals to go solo and destroy the island.
I’d only pull enough to be at risk if i had someone insisting on healing the place. And then only to try to make up for the deficit they are creating by healing instead of dpsing.
If you ARE going to heal, you’d best do so, and on my pet too since i’ll be making large pulls. If you run off on your own i’ll remove you.
it’s not true, I saw someone get drake mount once. Does it mean if I kicked them I would have gotten it? Nope, neither my wife or me got anything. It’s personal RNG like raiding.
I only play healers in WoW, but I would never queue for an IE as a healer. You are only slowing the group down. Most of the serious damage that happens on islands is a one-shot or very close to it, so a healer doesn’t really help that much because its essentially impossible to heal through people being hit by things. If they are pulling large groups, they want to dps it down before the bad mechanics happen, and having a healer in the group prevents them from doing that.
I know it’s dumb (like I said, I only play healers in this game), but that’s just how they are designed. Blame Blizzard :-/
Just tell the tank who whoever’s pulling to pull large packs and a ton of mobs and you’ll keep them up.
See the post above yours. That doesn’t really work.
If people are dying in islands a healer probably won’t help much since they are standing in avoidable mechanics.
That said, you shouldn’t be getting kicked, but there are a lot of champions out there who like to use the kick feature to feel good about themselves.
I typically go boomkin for islands to just aoe everything down, except for the healing item week. I stick healer for those, thats a great week. Feral affinity would be another option, but most healing in the island can be handled with the orbs the mobs drop and people watching their feet.
This. While I normally run with guildmates, I have pugged a few heroic expeditions. In one case, I had a DK ask “why r u holy?”. I told him that it was my preferred spec…so he said:
“K”
“Then im gng to pull lyk a SOB”
“that ok?”
I replied, “No. You should pull like a dirty rotten SOB…:)”. He lol’d, and we won that run by around 4k points.
It most certainly does.
