Am I a sheep for playing Ret?

You’re not a sheep for playing ret but I would say you are one for asking which herd you need to be a part of.

I’d say no. The main point of the game is to have fun. If you find ret the most fun why play something you don’t find fun instead?

You do you amigo.

I find it silly that so much of the community has moved to playing the spec, but I can understand the draw to it. A lot of people like the fantasy and their utility, so it’s fine.

It’s literally my least favorite spec in the game, but I don’t care what people play. Just don’t be one of those people that play it and don’t use defensives, brez, or CDs properly and die constantly. That goes for literally every class, but Ret pallies have so many players that it’s inevitable that the population of them that you run into in PuGs is going to be more frequently of lower quality just out of standard statistical distribution stuff.

Only if a mage gets a cast off on you.

I just wish the guy who designed Ret showed other class designers how to do their job. The amount of bloat and overcomplication in more specs than not is really starting to show, especially since class balance - at the end of the day - is reasonably good. Just people have to sweat much harder to achieve it on overcomplicated classes.

I think for a majority of the games life, ret paladins have always stood with a certain favor of the gods.

I’m not sure about that - but what I do know is its far and away the most played spec and while it is as hard as any other spec to master - especially its utility - you don’t need an advanced degree to do well with it. Very low skill floor. That’s just good design.

Play what you want. YOU’RE paying for your sub. Nut-up and stop caring what other people think.

And no, this isn’t my main, but was at one time and might be again at some point. Why? Because I play what I want and don’t care what other people think. See how that works?

I think if you see a lot of them then it means it’s enjoyable to play

Play what you have fun playing. Don’t care what others think.

paladins are cool. just a shame they are forced to be pink forever D:
it shouldve been some shade of yellow/gold, like the light.

Nice try, but our basic rotation is 4 buttons.

Ret for years was just a so so spec. Let them have their time in the sun. Just never know when it will all get nerfed.

I played my first paladin back in shadowlands and ever since then I found something I was finally missing. Pally is the most complete class for me at least. Before then, I always main Lock or DK, and I’ve been playing since mid-BC.

Now if I can just master Holy, I will probably never switch again.

You could ask the same thing of all the people playing hunter.

Or druid. Or mage.

If you enjoy ret, play ret. The same with folks who enjoy their respective specs.

yes but not because you play ret. because you sat there and said “am i sheep?” for picking a certain class in a video game.

that’s like me saying, am i a stereotypical female gamer for playing restoration druid and mistweaver monk.

You’re not anythign as long as you enjoy playing it.

Only if you play just like everyone and build the spec baised on everyone rather then your own skill-set/comfort zones.

Otherwise no your not as long as you look and build your own style with a reasonable spec.

But also don’t be dumb and play sword and board as ret.

they easily have one of the more enjoyable rotations and thats why I like playing them. Retail wow IMO still has too much button bloat, but thats just one persons opinion.

The real takeaway here is that if tons are people are playing a class/spec simply because it’s fun, then why aren’t more classes universally fun? I too log onto a ret pally to relax and blow up a delve a two.
