wouldnt need new animations for belves and high elves for mage. already exists. wouldnt need new animations for ogre warriors or vrykul warriors, already exist. wouldnt need new casting animations for naga, already exist. i think the only skeletons that would need added animations is the ethereal rogue concept.
and only the preset armor would be the same. the characters themselves would have access to hair/facial hair/eye changes via questing. have you seen a blood elf with void elf hair in blood elf hair colors? or a high elf with blood elf hair in high elf hair colors? didnt think so hehe
yes you could put those in the barbershop but the idea of creating a 4th spec for it is so it can built upon later.
You grossly misunderstand how many animations and rigs go into the player characters vs. the NPC models. I assure you, everything you just listed does NOT have everything a player character would need.
Nothing you’ve listed here needs to be a fourth talent spec, and the intention of building on it later can literally be done with any other system. Talents and Specializations are not RP elements of the game.
all the animations are already there. show me a blood elf animation that would need to be modified in order for a blood elf shape shift to be possible. it already exists.
besides its a shapeshift like using an orb trinket. if the casting animation for the spell doesnt exist, it just chooses a generic casting/generic melee animation. if you wanted that shape shifted form you’d have to accept that it doesnt have all the same animations as your actual character because its just a shape shift.
druid shape shifts into cat form and casts renew. it doesnt stand on its back legs and use its front legs to cast the spell cause its a shape shift.
Were it only Blood Elves you were asking for - since I believe this is just another thinly veiled request for High Elves - you’d be correct, all the animations are there. However, this is no the case with races like Ogres, Naga, Ethereals, etc, which you just admitted they would use generic casting animations for. That’s really low effort, and not at all what I’d like to see from a playable race.
And you just admitted that they’re just like using an orb trinket. So… you just want trinkets and toys though. That’s a much better solution.
they’re like a druid shape shift. ever see a bear form druid cast a heal on him/herself? they just do it. they dont animate the same spell casting as their non shape shifted self
So? Bear form isn’t a race.
its a shape shifted form. like an orb is a shape shifted form. like potions and food, toys, etc that change your appearance. like shape shifting as a druid. you arent the actual race. you’re shape shifted. the idea behind it is to make several different races playable by offering them as shape shifted in preset armor in their faction colors so they are easily identified as their faction.
All better ideas for the shapeshift than a fourth specialization.
but those are temporary, whereas a shape shift form is until you turn it off.
Great, then what you want is some kind of toy or item that does that. Why does it need to be a full specialization? Specializations have never been for cosmetic or RP purposes.
a dryad or a keeper of the grove is a perfect example a druid shape shift form comprising different races.
they’ve never made a toy that does that. all shape shifted forms other than druid shape shifted forms or shadow priest shape shifted form, are temporary. i think locks had demon shape shift but that was taken away and given to demon hunters. horde warlocks could get san’layn shapeshift form. theres an excellent video of examples for that
So then they can do that. They’ve also never made a Specialization entirely dedicated to a cosmetic appearance that doesn’t affect gameplay, because that would be silly.
well i wasnt gonna suggest the new spec too. though i’ve discussed possibilites such as faery magic for druid 4th spec, necro for warlock 4th spec where they have val’kyr pets instead of demons, or shaman bards where the only instrument they play is troll war drums that function like interactive totems, and naga priests as sirens (a pet class that uses mind control like everquest chanters), mage 4th spec of wizard that controls time (this would use the other spells as loadable into a timed release bubble) and so on. but that’s the kinda thing that would take awhile to do and i was just talking about an immediate, easy to do replacement for allied races.
Nah. Rather just have Allied Races.
why? all their gonna do is give us junker gnomes and foxes. in my idea you could access different races from your different alts classes.
I want Junker Gnomes and Foxes. I don’t want what you’re suggesting. And I couldn’t care less at all about High Elves.

well thanks for the feedback
so you dont want high elves. what about the rest?
blue eyed blood elves?
dryads?
keepers of the grove?
san’layn?
ethereals?
ogres?
saberon?
vrykul?
naga?
Didn’t say I don’t want High Elves, just said I don’t care whether or not they’re implemented. As for the rest… meh, I’ll take what comes, provided they’re not implemented through this fourth spec shapeshift idea.
