I don’t see how changing it for older expansions would be trivializing anything.
It sucks for players that are new or returning to have to grind all that out just to fly on old continents they are hardly ever on now after leveling.
Personally, I love Pathfinder and that it unlocks flight for all my characters on my account. I don’t want to see that change.
But once a new expansion comes out players should have the option of buying flight in old expansions on a per-character basis. Still keep the Pathfinder achievement in for those that want to unlock it instead.
I just don’t see the point in forcing players that missed Pathfinder while current to grind it all out just cause I had to do it.

If they make flight available with gold in previous expansions there will be players, like me, that never play the current expansion.

So much of what we experienced in old expacs is gone. Legion being the glaring example. Legion was leveling your artifact weapon as much as anything else and now that is gone.
If you don’t play when it’s current, you miss a lot…note: I started at the tail end of Pandaria.
I agree, particularly at 2 expacs old, let people buy flying per toon or grind out pathfinder for all. Whatever is most enjoyable for that person. It certainly doesn’t hurt my feelings that I did the grind when it was current and someone else buys it 2-4 years later. Any toon I take there can fly. That’s what I care about.

Doing all the main story quests on a zone is fine and should stay.
Grinding exalted rep is just a stupid part of the requirement and is only reasonable for no-RL-players. Why force me to commit my life to a game just to get something back that I already earned and paid for several times. I’d gladly pay gold to avoid the rep part.
At max level, it also isn’t as hard as long as they don’t gimp the rep per kill. Let us wear tabards dungeons, if you demand exalted. Also, cut it back to revered after expansion is over is fine with me. Requiring treasure loot is also stupid as HeII.
After you get pathfinder completed on the current expac, the flying only should be unlocked for the previous ones. The rep grind for rewards should stay,
Problem with this argument is that they removed alot of expansion features going into new expansions.
Playing thru legion content without the full effect of artifacts is boring.
Can no longer fully do MoP stuff (doesn’t impact the flying aspect just pointing it out).
I don’t even know what all was lost going from WoD to Legion since I only really came back from legion.
I couldn’t care less about some palette swap chimera mount tied to the pathfinder Draenor achievement.
If any expansion should be given the “ignore pathfinder to get flying” it should be WoD since it’s now two expansions old.
I mean, if i recall correctly, Cold weather flying and pandaria flying was at one point character specific and that was changed to be account wide when flying was unlocked.
Dude you outlevel the entire expansion just doing one zone in WoD and just doing two zones in Legion already puts you into BFA content.
Your point on gatekeeping flying for older expansions is really moot as already pointed out by other comments.

I think they should just put Pathfinder on the appropriate Timewalking vendor

No offense to you or your partner but i want compensation if they are just gonna willy nilly change stuff like that. I spent 10-12k per legion medal so i didn’t have to grind out that stuff. Change it, fine, but gimme all the gold i spent back. It’s one thing to change requirements for something that you can’t directly buy, it’s an entirely different matter when you sink gold into something only for it to be made trivial later. If i’d known it’d be made trivial i wouldn’t have bought it.

I think it would be smart for Blizzard to change it, but they won’t.
Blizzard is the most anti-player game company I’ve encountered.
Your opinion on flying is incredibly selfish and your goal is to make the game less fun by reducing player agency.
Then I want gold for every piece of gear I have ever gotten that has be trivialized by a new raid tier coming out.
Not even remotely the same. One has the expectation of being trivialized the other doesn’t.
but like wanting compensation for someone getting something easier for content that is 2 xpacs ago is a bit much you gotta admit
This only made sense when the content was current.

Suddenly a wild shill appears.
Your pro anti flying rhetoric is about as worse as it gets. Really wish you would take your 3 followers on YouTube and never come back to this game.

I missed mid-Cata to mid-Legion, so when I came back to the game, it was during 7.3.5 when world scaling was introduced and the WoD mobs were overtuned. I dragged my main through WoD on the ground to get to Legion, and I detested having to drag it back to WoD to grind rep for Draenor Pathfinder if I wanted my alts to get through that level bracket without getting two-shotted by the overtuned mobs. I actually ended up unlocking Legion Pathfinder first, and when I finally did unlock Draenor Pathfinder, I was so sick of WoD content (one of the worst xpacs, imo) that I quit playing again until 8.2 came out recently.
I heavily support the idea of making flying in previous xpacs purchasable as an option in addition to Pathfinder. I would rather have just paid gold for Draenor flying per toon, and even though I went through the grinding process for it, I wouldn’t wish that on any future players. Honestly, I wouldn’t resent and hate WoD as much if I didn’t have to keep sending my main to Tanaan for the mindless rep grind instead of spending time in the current xpac (Legion).
New players who come to the game after BfA are going to have to grind out three previous Pathfinders if they want to fly in WoD-BfA content, and I weep for them.

It would be nice to buy contracts, like in BFA to speed up the process of “old” content.

I think nerfing pathfinders in old expansions is fine. You don’t need to time-gate stuff to prolong the life of expansion content that ran its course years ago.
Yeah, Blizzard wants to milk that content for allied races, but I’d be willing to bet the number of players interested in allied races who haven’t already got WoD Pathfinder is pretty small.
Those who want to chew through WoD content of questionable relevance at a stately grounded pace - while periodically getting flown around by NPCs who can fly with the power of magical plotwings - will still have the option to do so.

I’ve said since pathfinder was announced that flying should be able to be bought per character an expansion or two later.
I’m not normally one for devaluing past content, but they already trivialize the rep grind thanks to reputation being bought through timewalking badges so I don’t see the big deal in this case. And I say this as someone that always earns pathfinder as soon as possible.
