Alt Unfriendly, unfriendlier

In this you are absolutely correct. It’s still a bummer that some people are not going to be able to use the catch up gear right away to catch up. Just a flaw, as I see it. Ah, and you posted while responding and agree. Yeah, a check for the cloak before dropping corrupted gear for a character would be cool. It’s a bummer to have this equipment and not be able to equip it. And I have thought about wearing them both and seeing what happens with 110 corruption. I fear I may bcome the very bridge that brings N’zoth through and makes his visions real! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah don’t buy the hype with shadowlands until beta is fully deployed. Something seriously went wrong at Bliz HQ at the tail end of legion when they went off the rails in many ways (eg Patch 7.3.5).

Corruptforged gear is a thinly disguised penalty for playing an alt.

The skips are a joke. It shouldn’t take 2 to 3 hours on an alt, but I think they did it because they know Shadowlands will not be released in 2020 so they need for us to do something 6 months from now… for the next 6+ months after that.

They said they were making Shadowlands more friendly to alts. 8.3 was already planned this way. One does not equal the other.

This is why I haven’t pre-ordered SL yet, and refuse to until I actually see proof that Blizz really is going be more alt friendly, and also give more player agency. They can say it all they want, until I see it though, it’s just pandering.

That is a good educated guess.

But if I was to make that educated guess the defense squad would mobilize and accuse me of being a conspiracy theorist or negative nancy.

The truth is that if shadowlands beta doesn’t start by March/April then shadowlands may indeed be pushed back to Q1 of 2021.

Nope! And no one said one thing equaled the other.

Perhaps not. However,

your post seems to be comparing the two as if the announcement of SL would be affecting the plans of BFA’s final patch. Perhaps it just seems that way to me.

Here’s hoping it doesnt get pushed back. With everything cut from bfa so far I’m hoping for at least a legion level xpac. Dont get me wrong I’ve enjoyed bfa quite a bit. But I’m ready for thos new customizations.

I preordered mainly so i could make a kt dk

i thought this was beta for SL?

Must be you. It wasn’t comparing the two. We have nothing to compare yet. We have a statement, one I hope is true and that Blizzard is faithful in delivering. I am cautiously optimistic but unwilling to give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt until I see it for myself. But I am indeed hopeful.

This is Friends and Family alpha right now. Beta starts when the new promotion starts up for another six month mount for gametime.

On my alts I clear the major assault each week and sometimes do a minor assault or two. That is enough to keep my cloak at the highest level possibly. Takes less than an hour a week. :man_shrugging:

As a I said but you didn’t quote, it’s a difference of opinion. Amount of time to complete something isn’t mutually exclusive to monotony.

I have 3 toons with Rank 7 cloak.

What’s alt unfriendly about it ?

It’s another rental power item we have to grind exclusive currency for. You know, like AP? Which Blizzard themselves have said is alt unfriendly? If it’s fine for you, fantastic. A lot of folks have found it not so fantastic and even Blizzard has acquiesced.

“Grind” currency ? There’s no grind for the currency though. Like the massive amount of it comes from the weekly/bi-weekly and a single daily quest. It’s like at most 1-1.5 hour / week per toon.

… You just described grinding.

No, I’m sorry, but doing a weekly and some bi-weekly assaults, and a single daily quest is not grinding.

It’s the literal opposite of grinding.

Grinding would be zone into a lesser vision, and grinding mobs for hours and hours for Coalescing Visions, without pause.

Let’s not redefine words here.

If you can’t even be bothered to play an alt 1 hour / week, then nothing will ever be “Alt friendly” to you.

No one has redefined anything. You simply disagree with what a lot of people consider grinding, which is fine. A lot of people, yourself included, may not agree with my definition. It doesn’t invalidate the point - except for yourself. And that’s okay.

Well, you see, that depends on how many alts you have, doesn’t it? If you casually alt, that extra hour (I’ve had it take much more time than that, but again, everyone is different and I am giving you the benefit of the doubt) but some of us have… lots of alts. And then there’s the initial 3 plus hours to get the cloak in the first place.
