Not to mention chasing gear. I levelled my second character for this expansion last week, and will likely not be able to keep 2 toons up to pace with each other.
For those that do this sort of thing, what am I missing, is it just a raw timesink, or do you skip as much as possible on your alts?
It isn’t Alt Friendly in my opinion. We’ve just started this expansion, so its not much of anything to consider it. Once we hit a Major patch that introduces more, then that’s when I’ll start considering whether or not it is alt friendly or not.
It’s not unless alt friendly just means crafting alts.
If you were to hit 60 now, just the renown story quest probably take 2-3 hours at this point and getting longer every week. All ready longer than the cloak quest.
Plus sequentially unlocking Torghast layers.
“Catch up” is you have to do everything you did on your main, it’s just not time gated.
The catch up could have been better but there are much bigger problems right now. I picked Revendreth for my warrior and my rogue… and my rogue is now doing everything my warrior did. Seems like this should be a … oh - we know you’re soul - enjoy! moment.
Keeping them up to pace with each other is the issue right here. I now have three characters at 60.
This one I do the bulk of my stuff on. My two alts aren’t far behind thanks to catch up mechanics on Renown. They have the Covenant set pieces at 177 ilvl with a few pieces of 158 to 171 ilvl gear from WQs. With renown 17 I’ll be able to get the rest of their set and upgrade it further. With callings I do this character everyday with my hunter and warrior on an every other day rotation and have little issues during a week to juggle them all with the content I do.
Anima is very easy to get, today I did 2 world quest and a normal clear and have 920 out of the 1000 I need for the week
Rep grinding nothing new also not really needed
Profression grinding is not a thing
Torghast once u have layer 8 unlocked takes at most a little over an hour to clear both wings each week very fast
Weekly events are not a grind and are fast to do.
In fact everything you listed can be done in a day of gameplay or spread out over like 3 afternoons freeing up the rest of the week for whatever you want.
Its being alt-friendly in the sense that most of these systems are really optional , even torghast to a certain degree because rank only increase stats and not the power itself .
The only thing your alts need to keep up with is renown and gear , everything else can be earned at your own pace and shouldnt slow its gear progression at all .
If your goal is calling clearing for gold…yeah it is alt friendly. GO buy them some 151 gear and while grindier than say 180 and beyond the WQ’s can be run.
If they get to 155…spam some heroics for the broker weekly or the the “big” calling that is either a dungeon run or the harder “assault” wq up in a zone.
Beyond that…even pvp farming for basic 184 gear is not alt friendly. I get some rough nights where I take 50/50 win/loss and go its better than winning 1 out of 4. I do this on 2 chars and it can eat up a chunk of time.
Mythic 0 if RNG really really really likes you maybe.
It has catch up for alts, so if you started late, you can catch up, up to date quite fast.
Tbf, it isnt that hard to earn it.
I think it was obvious this ones would be independent, like always, but at least the Torghast upgrades from Venari are account wide as well has the memories
Yeah, that one does need to have the layers unlocked, has for the Ash i think its fine the way it is.
When talking alts, are we talking alt alts or alt mains? Because if they are just regular alts the game is as friendly as it’s ever been. If you’re expecting to have 2 or three additional mains, yeah you’re going to have to put in the same amount of effort in gearing/powering them up as you would your first main.
Renown/conduit levels is probably the only thing Alt Friendly in this Expansion. Because it sure ain’t leveling, It sure ain’t anima, It sure aint soul dust or Borghast levels and it sure the hell isn’t loot…
