They marketed this xpac as being alt- friendly, but it really isn’t. You’ll never catch up to the big boys, and i feel like this is the first xpac that has been like this. Even in bfa i was able to catch up to my main.
Also, torghast feels awful on alts. I’ve gone from 1-8 on 3 alts now and my brain is moosh. Please just change it so if we have hit level 8 on a character it just transfers over.
Such small things could be done to make this game a little more enjoyable.
Also- pvp gearing is a little rubbish since everyone above 1800 has a massive ilvl advantage to people under. A dev did adress this in an interview with a youtube dude but yeah. keen for next patch
LOL it was a sinking ship for me. got a HDH, warrior, shadow priest, feral druid, and a ret pally to 60. Some class I really like to play but aren’t performing at all (HDH and fury warrior) Feral druid is ok but can’t get into group coz everyone expect you to be a boomy, shadow priest I read online and most people say their damage is good which it is but for some reason is terrible in m+ and ret pally I just don’t like it at all.
Too lazy to level another character although I like a mage. But I am too burnt out to try to level one. Oh I also like a Demo lock but again no one is going invite one to their group.
blizzard said a lot of things in this expansion that are complete lie… But yeah the ALt experience and imo the leveling experience in SL is easily the worst to date just like alot of things in SL, time vs reward, loot etc…
is for me too. my mains 211 pvp ilvl, and ive managed to get my ret and fire mage 202 ilvl. But its so hard to increase their ilvl, its like i have to just wait on my weekly vault
Torghast on 3 or more alts is just brain numbingly boring and bad. Soul ash is not a reward
The catchup isn’t even that bad. Everyone gets so walled around 200ilvl and gets loot so slowly that once you’re at that point you’re already caught up and just have to pray to RNJesus like the rest of us
My alt caught up to the same renown level as my main at the time (16) in just 2 weeks, and after a month had their bis legendary upgraded to max @ 235item level, etc… really no difference between them and my main.
Compare that to BFA, you could grind as fast as your hearts desire, you never could catch up to your main’s or other people’s neck level, it was a never-ending perpetually moving goal post as for example you aim to raise your neck to 50, by the time you get their, they are at 60, then you aim for 60, they are 70… 70, they are 72, 72 they are 75, etc… Then hope to be lucky with azerite drops having your bis traits, and forced to redo all sorts of boring grinds for azerite powers, etc before they finally changed it to be account wide for the final patch 8.3 (way too late)
Legion was the same too (infact a bit worse), perpetually moving goalpost with artifact power and the rng of legendary drops, and absolutely no catch-up mechanic (wasn’t until later patch) and if you didn’t get your bis legendary in either one of the 4 you can get, then you were screwed (essentially better off rerolling a new alt if your first and second legendary drop wasn’t your bis, your chances at getting your bis legendary for the remaining 2 drops was next to never).
Then for both WoD and MoP there existed absolutely zero catch-up mechanic for the legendary item you literally had to refarm the same reps, same quests, same dungeons, same raids over and over on each individual alt and especially the items you had to loot from the raids, this took weeks to get enough fragments, pages, or whatever requirements that dropped off each boss to make your legendary item if running heroic or mythic, otherwise could take months if running normal, or worse LFR could take you the entire patch to get enough: https://i.imgur.com/B2mHsvv.png
Yeah, the first wall to hit is that bland xpac maw intro… Then, you choose a boring experience on the main story, or do the slogfest that is ToF. I didn’t bother to lvl any char beyond 2, both experiences looks terrible atm for me.
To be fair, I’m pretty sure they’ve said EVERY expansion is “alt friendly”. I mean, it’s not like they’re going to come right out and say “stick with one character, this one sucks for alts!”
Ultimately I don’t think SL is really that much better or worse for alts than most other expansions. In a weird way, catching up to nearly 200 ilvl is quite easy, thanks to the Covenant armor set. Yet at the same time, it’s hugely disappointing, because there’s virtually no reason to do anything else. Anything less than M+ is lower level, yet if you do run that or raids, almost nothing drops anyway. So then you level an alt… and before you know it, hit that same wall again.
Truly a model of efficiency procedures, with unpleasant results.
I can’t bring myself to level again. My alt is level 54 and it feels terrible. Plus knowing the pure hell ahead of no legendary for weeks does not motivate me. Alt friendly is not what i describe this expansion.
I just got my fourth toon to 60, from 54 to 60 was a struggle. If you follow the story, it is the exact same path. In BfA you had your choice of where to start, not here.
There is threads of fate, and that just seems like an even worse grind.
