Because of life reasons I have had a late start to SL and recently got into it within the last few weeks.
Now that I am capped and things are starting to get rolling for me IE Mythic dungeons ect, I feel I have already missed this expansion.
I spent a better part of Sunday looking for a guild that would be tackling raid content and mythic+ many discussions, with many different people over the course of a 9-12 hour period.
Now don’t get me wrong these were by no means CE guilds, they were your average joe - casual guilds. Each of them stating they were aiming to do heroic and each of them requiring 205+ ilvl.
Is it still plausible to catch up to this ? or has yet another expansion just kind of slipped away
it… just came out?
This expansion just started.
Guilds are always recruiting. If a guild is worth your time they’ll help you get caught up with gear.
What…Its like 2 months in, you didnt miss anything and Mythic+ and Castle Nathria is still very fresh.
Do pvp. Conquest gear is faster to gear up. Once you hit 200 ilvl pug mythic+. If your goal is mythic raiding you will need to pvp and pve to catch up on gear right now. Sure you can just grind mythic+ but that will take waaay longer.
Well hey, thanks for the replies. I guess I may just be a little doubting and quick to jump to conclusions because of the previous expansions when I fired late.
I will keep trying and see where I end up, thanks.
AFter Tuesday, you should be able to upgrade covenant and honor gear to about 197. That alone should get you most of the way to 205. After that you can try either arena, M+ or heroic raids to upgrade some of the pieces. World bosses, weekly quests and legendaries should also help get you there as well.
Still fresh, you’re good.
On the note of guilds, the good ones will help you.
They aren’t going to hold your hand, but they will help.
Don’t get sucked into somewhere where you’re just another buff
Raid cycles are hard to keep up with, so maybe you can narrow your scope a little.
Right now is probably the rush for progression where guilds are trying to be selective to be competitive. Once these raids get on farm status or people start trickling away, you’ll probably find it to be a little more accepting and can get yourself set up for the next tier.
So next week if you upgrade all of your covenant armor, you can get the whole set to ilvl 200. You’ll be able to get PvP gear to ilvl 197 soon too.
Feels a lil bad, I worked pretty hard getting my DH to ilvl 203 and next week that is gonna be the new baseline.
Best way to gear up past 200 is PvP and Mythic/Heroic Raiding though for sure. Mythic+ will get you ~200 ilvl gear and up to 226 gear from the vault, but it kind of sucks now for gearing outside the vault rewards.
So, World Quests that require a group, stay with me.
I never get invited to any of the WQ groups that are listed.
It was getting frustrating.
Now, I make my own group! 100% success rate!
What’s that have to do with your post?
Make your OWN guild!
Run the content YOU want to run, when YOU want it!
This is most of what I had found over the week/weekend which is what sparked this whole conversation for me.
It was a disheartening discovery but, I will take people at their word that it is still plausible, at least.
how does one upgrade armor ? i didnt even know that was thing, Mind you I basically just rushed to 60 and started diving into heroics/mythics.
hey are you talking rated pvp?
Oh so, if you go into the Kyrian Soulbind thingy, and hug the left wall, there are two vendors there, one to buy the armor for anima, and one you can upgrade the armor with for anima.
You’ll need to get caught up on renown so that you can finish the covenant campaign… so you can do the covenant quests though. You can get renown by doing heroics/world boss/raids and such.
I caught up on my Warrior really fast by just tanking a buncha heroics, then doing the weekly quests for the covenant.
Yes. Rated bgs specifically. There are plenty of yolo groups doing honor and conquest grinds.
You can get ilvl 184 PvP gear now by upgrading the rank1 pvp gear via honor. That is all unranked.
While farming all that honor, you’re prolly gonna get a decent chunk of Conquest that you can use to buy ilvl 200 gear with no ranking.
If you do rated PvP and get your rating to 1400, you can upgrade that conquest armor to 207 with honor. 1600 can upgrade to 213, etc etc.
There really is no being left behind in WoW. The tools are there, just get the gear and you’re right there with everyone else.
Minus the BFA systems, those can go to hell.
wait wait wait…
I have been going since week 1 as well and sitting around 205ish, and your telling me, all those keystones, all those… toxic encounters, all that time…
and it’s now just, baseline for anima ?
oooooof that was a punch straight to the spleen.
And just so im not singling out without replying to OP.
I have also tried to get into a guild since the beginning just to be able to explore the content of this xpan, and, no luck there unless your apart of a clique in that guild, get ready to warm benches.
Yup! You’ll be able to upgrade covenant armor to ilvl 200 once the campaign questline is finished, which should be possible to finish next week. You can already upgrade everything to 190.
And some of the set bonuses on the covenant armor are pretty sick… Like Venthyr basically gets 80 free AGI/STR/INT whenever Door of Shadows isn’t on cooldown as the 8set piece.
Definitely not bad, even if the stats on the covenant armor aren’t ideal.
I… don’t even know how to respond to this.
this just rocked me, I have been doing the most I can to get better gear, with a chance to get into content and to learn that I could’ve just stock piled anima and said screw all these low keys and waited to just upgrade everything.
that one leaves a sour taste in the mouth.
