Allow us to disable obtrusive yellow outline/sparkles in Outline Mode like in retail

Please allow us to disable the new obtrusive yellow outline and the sparkles coming from the new Outline Mode in the Dragonflight expension. These features totally break the immersion in the game. We can even get sparkles on the portals when we disable the new Outline Mode.


In Retail we have the option to disable the Outline Mode but in Dragonflight we don’t have this option without having the sparkles. We really need to get back this option.


I can understand some people like it but we really need to get more options because it really breaks the immersion in the game.


In Retail, I put my outline mode option on “Quests Objectives and Mouseover” (display part) and I have my outline mode option on “High” (system part). Settings I put for the Retail pictures underneath.

I can understand not liking it, but I don’t understand the “breaks the immersion” part.

Having this obtrusive yellow outline or this sparkles can really breaks immersion in the game for some people and it’s really a pity.

It can become really disturbing at some moments. So it could be nice to be able to disable the Outline Mode without having the sparkles too. Removing the sparkles when we disable the Outline Mode or another option added to the Outline Mode to avoid the sparkles could be welcomed

I was looking for just the opposite - my outline was not working by default. But, I think this answer will also help you with getting rid of your outline too.

There are two options for outline mode. I’ve bolded the options that may help you out:

  1. Options > Interface > Display… Outline Mode: Disabled / …Quest / …Mouse / …Target

  2. Options > Graphics > Advanced… Outline Mode: Disabled / Good / High

Has anyone figured out how to remove the yellow glowing outline from NPC quest givers? I mean, they already have a giant yellow ! over their head, but now they all look irradiated. Turning off outlines doesn’t help, it just makes them (and everything else) start sparkling like mad. It seems like the only options we have are Outlines or Sparkles. It’d be great if there were 3 options… Outlines, Sparkles, or NEITHER.
