I definitely want to play an unbroken arakkoa myself. Also, and this has probably been mentioned before, but another distinction between male and females could be that males are more colorful in general, with females having more dull and environmental-colors to their feathers.

Also, I feel like if they go on Alliance, they could get a racial flying mount of just them flying(in the case of uncorrupted arakkoa). Something possibly like the monk cloud (but not instant cast) for flavor or something. Though I doubt it’d be used often if it’s slow.

While I understand the sentiments and appreciate the support… I get the feeling you didn’t read the full memo… ^-^’

Heh, my old thread back in the closed forums had them as Alliance, too, but I pretty much got mouthed off for not making them Neutral.

Gender Differences:
The original intent for the Arakkoa was to make them an androgynous race. As such, there is currently no way to determine males from females except to hear their voices. In order to keep this in mind, the changes I have in mind would keep the Arakkoa androgynous whilst making it easier for players to identify without making the character themselves.

Male: Slightly shorter than the females and have slimmer shoulders, but more wide busts. Tail Feathers are longer and also have slimmer feet than females.

Female: Slightly taller than the males and have broader shoulders but more thin busts. Tail Feathers are wider and also have wider feet than males.

I did read it In traditional biology for many bird species, there are coloration differences to their feathers. Hence my suggestion. Also saw the racial, but I figured expanding it to be an actual flight would be more cool than just a temporary thing.

Who said it was temporary? It would function like Druid Travel form or Worgen’s Running Wild.

As for the feathers thing, I think it would be good for people to go both ways, y’know?

Either way, it seems ActiBlizz’s Rule of Cool doesn’t match their playerbase’s.

Edit: While not truly Arakkoa news, apparently the Devs just added the Ancient Artifact Solar Sphere to the Epic Ashran Battleground in the 8.2.5 PTR. At least the Arakkoa are not forgotten.

I read the new changes and I’m happy they fixed up Ashran a bit. But I didnt expect them to give attention (and a birdy solar orb) to a pvp from a past expansion.

Although the addition of the solar orb is small, it gives me a bit of hope that the birdies will be making an appearance again soon.

It certainly can seem that way, but unless ActiBlizz are hiding something, then there’s a big chance we may not see them for some time.

I do hope this isn’t the case and this representation is just a sign of things to come, though. ^-^

I very much support Arakkoa as a playable race and have them in my current top 10 most wanted playable races. While I lean them more towards Alliance, I’d be fine with whatever faction they would end up joining.

As I said before, one of the neat things that have come out of the allied race system is seeing people passionate about races they want to be playable. Always fun to see what ideas and discussions they come up with for their wanted races.

There are a lot of colors for arakkoas!
If I remember correctly it is common for some bird species to have the male as the most colorful!

I personally would like my arrakoa red with gold tipped feathers, but that teal option is also appealing. With all those customization options you listed, I can already see what our lovely birdies would look like <3

I wonder if anyone here has ideas of how we can have playable Arakkoa?

Some of my ideas would be we go back in AU Draenor we find out why the Lightbound are the way they because of the Arakkoa using the Void Shadow and we help the uncorrupted and corrupted Arakkoa off of the Light scarred World of Draenor and they join the Alliance.

Another scenario would be we go to our draenor timeline in outlands where we save the corrupted arakkoa and even the floating rock of what’s left of spires of arak and again they join the Alliance.

Sadly, the kind of shadow the Arakkoa use is different from even the Void Shadow that’s normally used.

I suppose that the best way to describe it is that they have the power of the dead on their side which is why they can escape into the Shadowlands themselves and hop out of them whenever they want.

Also, I’ve had similar ideas both in the past and present day, but I had been mouthed off about them not being made Neutral so… The OP of this thread was the result of that. ^-^’

Anyway, your second scenario reminded me of an idea I had a little while back, but never could write it down before I forgot… T^T
