how many alliance players along with us horde ones, have made jokes about punting gnomes over the years? you know i’m right. personally, i don’t hate gnomes. but mecha-gnomes i do.
Us gnomes are a proud people!
stormwind city located in elywnn forest in eastern kingdom on azeroth
I’d settle for more pirate hats!
I’m fine with Vulpera, and I hope Mechagnomes can have swappable flesh and bone appendages.
would’nt that make them just… normal gnomes then?
I did see something datamined on wowhead preamble strings today “mechagnome - paint”
I’m actually happy that the Horde got Vupera… I don’t want them in the Alliance.
Because, the Alliance has never helped the Vulpera I believe while the Horde did.
They should have been Ethereal. So close during that recruitment scenario…so close…
We helped build their fire resistance. You see that racial Vulpera? You’re welcome.
Nah, that’s where ya be bummin’ nowadays. And why was that because ya own people turned ya home inta an irradiated…
Yea…
High Elves joined the Horde. Case and point, me. I start in Quel’thalas, the high elf kingdom, then make my way to Silvermoon City, the High Elf capital, and then join the horde. As a Blood Elf.
Alliance cognitive dissonance is just astounding because they still have a few homeless high elves hanging around. Horde wanted a neutral thing that was created to join the Horde eventually. Alliance want a Horde thing that is already a playable part of the Horde. That is the difference.
So what part about us getting the worst allied races are you upset about exactly? When you get everything you want and you’ve been playing your favorite race since bc? Why are we not allowed to be angry?
As I attempted to say above I could care less about playing any elves.
Not to point out the obvious, but since I highly doubt that the Horde were the ones to raid a random pirate encampment on an Alliance island, it was probably the Alliance that canonically raided Freehold. Just as it was probably the Horde that canonically were behind King’s Rest. As a result, the Alliance is actually responsible for attacking both factions of Vulpera. Both those within Vol’dun, and those within the pirate factions of Freehold. As such, the Alliance were never getting the Vulpera as things were written.
The Mechagnomes also do service about as well as the Highmountain as an AR (in that they actually are their own twist of culture and civilization of their base race). I wish the execution on their prosthetics was a little better, and certainly wish Blizz would embrace the weird and creepy of the Gnomeborg more, but conceptually they are better ARs than their counterparts the Velves and Lightforged. In that like ALL of the Horde ARs, the KTirans, and DIDwarves they actually are an actual civilization being allied with.
The Alliance’s only interaction with pirate vulpera was killing them, barring the occasions you could side with them in Freehold. They might be the only race they interacted with that was even less likely to join them than the sethrak.
Pandaren have had little to no plot involvement since they were made playable, thinking Blizzard would do anything with them is a pipe dream.
That is subjective.
Horde isn’t always asking for things.
I have, because I joined the faction they were made playable on. Specifically.
Because the Alliance player base is ALWAYS begging for something. Always finding new ways to ask for High Elves. Always asking for more incentive to do War mode. Always asking for racial buffs to make world tier raiders switch to Alliance.
You guys are never happy. And every time Blizzard appeases you, you move the goal posts and just start asking again.
About the only thing that the Horde has consistently asked for, is Ogres. And that is probably not happening for very realistic reasons, but it pales in comparison to when the Alliance decides they want something.
Lol OK. And brown orcs. And straight back orcs. Everyone wanted night born. Zandalari requested since mop (I was on the old forums then). Everyone wanted Northrend mechagnomes too. Even high mountain were requested as customization. Vulpera heavily requested by both sides as soon as they were seen at blizzcon.
Funny that? Just ogres huh?

Yeah I never asked for that stuff. Good try though.
Honestly, it kind of sounds like you’re complaining that you chose the less diverse faction and are mad that the more diverse faction got the more diverse ARs?
The Orcs got an Orc AR. The Trolls got a Troll AR. The Tauren got a Tauren AR (and I think its safe to say that most Horde would have easily preferred Taunka over the Highmountain). The BC Arcane Elves already recruiting the Legion Arcane Elves within Legion (if you were paying attention) got a Arcane Elf AR. The Goblins got Goblins in Fursona outfits AR, because bluntly Blizz wasn’t going to invest the resources to make Kelfin playable for the least played core race in the game.
As for the Alliance. The Humans got a Human AR (and a cool one IMO, even if the execution wasn’t quite on point). The Dwarves got a Dwarf AR (the best AR in the game IMO). The Gnomes got a Gnome AR (and one more conceptually neat than people give them credit for if Blizz would just embrace the creepy). The Draenei got a Dreanei AR (and I cannot fathom how Lightforged get so much of a pass, when Broken were a more interesting option). And … whatever the Velves are.
Those things are not constantly begged for on the forums or other outlets like the Alliance does. There is a High Elf thread every day, and there were tons and tons of “why should I turn on war mode?” Alliance posts.
Honestly, the Vulpera would NOT fit in with the Alliance.
We’re talking about a faction with Draenei, Night Elves, and Humans… Sure, there’s Worgen, but in my opinion I don’t even think the Worgen truly fit in the Alliance.
The Vulpera of Vol’dun are tough, resourceful scavengers. They may look like “cute little foxes”, but from what we’ve seen lorewise, this is not usually the case. There is much more to them than what meets the eye.
The closest thing to Vulpera that is in the Alliance right now would be the Pandaren (in my opinion). However, the Pandaren rightfully choose peace over war, and tend to be very selfless and wise (I’m not saying all of them are, but for the most part, they are a very peaceful light-hearted race). Because of this, I don’t even think the Pandaren should of joined the Horde.
However, Vulpera, against all odds, have learned how to survive the brutal climate that Vol’dun has to offer. Not to mention having to deal with the Sethrak, and the dozens of other bandits, murderers, and outcasts. The Alliance also invaded their lands, so that doesn’t put a good image on them either.
Now, for the “pirate Vulpera”…
The pirate Vulpera, from my knowledge, are just as tough and ruthless as the Vulpera who have survived many generations in Vol’dun. Sure, they are referred “quitters”, but as of right now it’d be easier to see the Vulpera of Vol’dun join the Alliance (which seems VERY unlikely and just overall strange in terms of story and aesthetic), and here’s why:
- The pirate Vulpera are only really seen as enemy NPCs (from my knowledge, correct me if I’m wrong) during these times
- The pirate Vulpera are thieves
- The “Bilge Rats” are referred to as a group of “mongrel” races, and we ALL know how much the Alliance likes “mongrels”
- Aesthetically, I don’t think the Vulpera would fit in with the Alliance… At least the Vol’dun ones, not much is known about the very small population “pirate” Vulpera.
Vol’dun Vulpera also refers to the “travelling trader” Vulpera, which is not found anywhere else in Azeroth yet, but it’s widely known that Vulpera are travelling traders.
Junk gnomes do suck, and the Alliance does deserve better… But I don’t think Vulpera is the solution to this.
Also, can you seriously imagine a blue background to my character’s icon? Really? Would that fit the overall aesthetic? Personally, I’d think that wouldn’t look right, but that just might be me.
The Alliance needs fish people.
