Horde having one more quest line is incompetence now? I saw somewhere that that guy is confirmed to have been hired to write for a Diablo project?
yep but still the xpac started with our teeths kicked at teldrassil
this raid is kinda alliance biased considering that at least both of our characters survive.
is just that blizzard REALLY don’t understand how to please alliance players, they must be thinking that raiding a capital and killing a leader is what we want.
We don’t, especially the ones who had nothing to do with teldrassil, we don’t even know rasthakan.
But to be fair, is not like the horde is having a great moment either with all the datamined stuff.
i would say that we are just lucky.
i would still like a minor questline in 8.2 for someone.
This is how most Horde players feel as well. Especially in the books.
Maybe the hints in datamining about the Scarlet Brotherhood could be leading to something for the Alliance. They did say we would see things starting to move on the Alliance side and mentioned the House of Nobles. Maybe we will see a more hardline lobby within the Alliance undermining Anduin and pushing for the Alliance to go more hardcore. That could offer choice too if they really wanted.
Unless they were planning on bringing back Varian, I can’t imagine what such a questline could be.
Alliance players aren’t as attached to characters as Horde players are. Those of us who hated the HK and human focus were glad to see Varian go (still miss the guy).
Our trade off for keeping characters is losing land/game play. I’d rather lose the characters if I had a say in anything.
Does the alliance need one?
You realize the only reason anyone lost land was to end the faction disparity in leveling zones though, right? Alliance was the first faction worked on in beta and received a lot more detail, polish and story than Horde. Release date came before Horde could be finished. Just look at the original Stormwind, it’s always been a great city filled with life and interesting characters. Orgrimmar wasn’t finished in time for launch and that’s partly why Gamon was the only Orgrimmar citizen with any real dialogue.
Also, to OP regarding faction-specific quests, remember that the Alliance had the Onyxia quest chain which Horde didn’t have. Which was huge at the time.
If Vol’jin is going to lead into something xpac defining, they definitely do.
Horde had VASTLY fewer quests in Vanilla. A lot of that is because instead of getting unique zones for each 5 levels, 3 Horde races all had The Barrens for 10-35. But also at the top they had a few less, leading to the only way to reach 60 being grinding mobs.
I think that’s the point. Blizzard just threw in these fig leaf choices because of player complaints but they’re not going to have it dictate a story they’ve been planning on for a couple of years in advance.
Going out on a limb here and saying its likely Alliance will have their own special quest in Mechagon to try and unthaw the gnome leader.
Speak for yourself.
I’d rather see all the places blown up than lose the lore characters.
Even the ones I dislike.
In Legion Anduin had a questline and the horde had nothing equivalent. Then… I don’t see the problem.
So we’re really comparing points from vanilla of all things.
No, what we’re doing is showing that throughout the entire lifespan of the game, this has been common practice. And life has gone on despite one faction having an additional quest here and there. It’s nothing to cry over and there’s no need in acting like it’s some new and bizarre occurrence of faction favoritism. Factions get their own unique quest when their faction-specific story calls for it.
Its amaze me horde the alliance dont realise how whining about the horde getting zone in cata is the equivalent of whining because you are not favoured anymore.
Everytime that a alliance ask the right to destroy a horde city or want a horde zone like we did in cata, i wish that blizz give the horde more zone and city for the next 3 expansion before it. I doubt that they would still be happy about ‘‘gaining’’ zone.
The problem was that there wasn’t an Alliance variant of the Broken Shore. Varian got disenchanted and suddenly we’re just annointing Anduin to High King. The fact Varian died felt brushed off to the side for several patches too. Remember that we didn’t go back to the Broken Shore until 7.2.
Anduin’s rise to his throne was never explored int he game. Nor was there a special cutscene to mimic the Horde’s who got The Broken Shore cutscene + Vol’jin’s death & Funeral cutscenes that highlighted Sylvanas’ acceptance of the title of Warchief.
There was that SINGLE quest chain to explain Anduin’s thoughts on the matter. You took him back his compass. You both walked the streets of Stormwind, eavesdropped on Genn and Velen, left for the Broken Shore, and Anduin accepts his title as High King of the Alliance.
Think of it more as a narrative way to catch up the Alliance storyline at that point.
Hmm you did, the Anduin questline is exactly that.
Omg 2 patch woo woo. We still dont know why they killed Vol’jin and made Sylvanas warchief at 8.1. Remember it happened at 7.0.
Ok so a whole quesline and a cinematic to appoint the alliance character that was the most developed in WoW and who was the son of the king explain nothing but a small cinematic where the dying troll say that spirit appoint the most controversial leader of the horde the title of warchief explain enough???
The Vol’jin questline is barely a made up for one of the worst thing that blizzard did to the horde, killing the only warchief that was love by nearly everyone. The alliance dont need that kind of quest because they dont have this kind of internal conflict. Dont say that Tyrande being angry at Anduin is one, those kind of thing happen few time every patch for the horde.
No but the Horde got a funeral and a conclusion to Voljin’s death
You didnt just have Sylvanas with “warchief” title out of nowhere.
