Alliance development

They can give horde high mountain and suramar in case of balance problems

or they could have written a morally grey conflict where the alliance attacked first to uphold Varian’s threat, making the battle of UC first and having the horde retaliate on Teldrassil.

In terms of independent Alliance development:

  • Gilneas returned and turned into a Suramar style questing zone/capital.
  • Stromgarde fully turned into an Alliance city of note.
  • Dalaran returned fully into an Alliance city. Lets finally fix up Silvermoon for the Horde, if we need another magically inclined city.
  • The NEs resettle heavily in Hyjal and Winterspring, and heal Felwood; Ashenvale; and Darkshore. Let them rebuild and bolster their Northern Territories.
  • Lets see some serious development for the Council of Three Hammers.

Things like this to start out with. Hell, with the Forsaken’s weird situation right now, lets give Silverpine and Hillsbrad back to the Alliance, along with Arathi.

That would have been nice.

ehhhh

technically?

I
highly doubt that will ever happen because those two cities are tied to legion content. Nor can they just fly around like Dalaran. The horde might have those two cities in name, but in actuality those cities will forever remain neutral.

seriously, that one change would have made BFA a lot more tolerable. Alliance get their morally grey but proactive moment without losing all of the high ground, horde has a reason for using extreme tactics in the face of the Alliance overwhelming might and aggression.

The Horde and Alliance really shouldn’t be fighting to eradicate one another (or the world) anyway. That’s just more over the top save the world the mess that got us MoP and BfA.

Punitive raids, fighting over resources, allies, denying one another strategic advantages, and proxy wars should be enough to spawn hundreds of stories. Spies, counter spies, and counter-counter spies and plots. If you want to blow up something to show the situation’s gotten out of control, you can sacrifice some third party city or NPCs.

Afterall, as much as having Boralus invaded or King Rastakhan dying and losing the entire Zandalari/Kul Tiran fleet may sting, it’s not equal to losing Teldrassil and Undercity.

Having to raid Orgrimmar and seeing Theramore blown up was lame, but what if the big climax to MoP had been a huge battle in the Vale of Eternal Blossoms that saw the unleashing of some terrible force that killed countless people on both sides, completely decimated the zone, and forced both sides to take a look back and realize that continued fighting could destroy them both?

Would be better than what we got. It would be nice if they didn’t have to make each villain seem more powerful then the last past legion it starts to get silly.

Honestly, what we’re really overdue for is an Anti-Cata expansion reflective of Vanilla. Devoted to small stories, for world and character building.

A couple of characters could use development but the alliance is pretty much consistent so far.

edit: Like having Talanji and Anduin encounter each other could offer more development, I don’t think we’ve ever seen them interact.

the alliance doesn’t need “char development” anymore we already had that with jaina who needed it what we have now is an extensive roster of developed characters but with the downside of not using all those rich characters in their full potential and that is when it enters the “alliance development” that is am asking, the characters are there, use them.
and maybe anduin could use some of that char development.
like seriously, we have muradin,alleria,jaina,maiev,tyrande,malfurion
 ect,ect. but so far
many if not all of them seems like cardboards anduinized.

The Alliance needs a lot of “Macro” level development. Large scale themes and concepts explored within the Faction. The Faction and Racial stories more focused on. Hell, the Faction identity explored a bit of that matter. Its the Horde that really needs the “Micro” level development in major ways; our character roster is looking pretty damned stretched thin. Seriously, as much as I love Voss and think she does have the potential to be made into a good Forsaken Rep; she’s got a very square peg/round hole thing going on right now
and its clear she was only put in her 8.3 position because there is no one else.

They could also stop doing the horde rediscovers itself plot line every other expansion.

That sounds a bit confusing as we already use several characters in BfA. Might have to offer me an example.

edit: do you mean personalities like Overspark?

The Alliance story at the moment is far too tied to Anduin and by extension the high king position. Everything in BFA seems to revolve around Anduins story and decisions. He and the high king position needs to go first.

Then Alliance then needs to look to its own people and looking to rebuild. The Alliance has far too many refugee populations that don’t have a proper homes so taking them back would be first, If that involves the Alliance attacking the Horde so be it. It also needs to secure its borders against the Horde and be aggressive about it. Rebuild walls and have armies on the borders watching the horde for any further aggression.

Have the Horde having to react as this new unprepared council, they could struggle at first to agree on how to respond. However eventually mount a defense but have it be too late.

The Horde needs its roster of characters developed, This would best be achieved in out of game content. Books and comics focused around some horde characters would be a great way to buff some of their characters to alliance levels.

I think they should focus on having towns rebuilt in lore that are not capitals like netherguard to avoid upsetting the in game balance to much

Not to point too much of a finger at it, but part of the issue with Baine is that his character development is almost exclusively locked within the pages of external source material; it rarely shows up in the game. Saurfang’s character arc within BfA was also problematic, as it came so much in the form of Cinematics that the players who sided with him in his quest actually had to rely heavily on Meta-Knowledge to justify that decision. Our characters had no way of knowing what he was doing, and he looked incredibly guilty by the time we got to him.

On top of this, there is just the issue of
y’know, forcing the Horde players to not actually have gameplay and in game stories; and instead have to rely on short stories and novels to get their content
some of which they’ll likely have to pay real money for.

Don’t know why it took you this long.

Well its a trade off considering pretty much all alliance victories over the horde happen in the books as well. Its not ideal however if players want to see that character roster developed books are the best way.

Not saying the Horde wouldn’t get any content in game however it would be more reactionary to the actions of the alliance. They might also have to deal with Loyalists causing problems, Calls for a new warchief and maybe murders of citizens (loyalists who are responsilbe for warcrimes who are assassinated by alliance assassins).

Anduin seems to just approve what we offer him, can’t really say we’re tied to him as even Shandris agrees on removing Sylvanas.

The question now is can they write a horde storyline that’s doesn’t involve them being warmongers so we don’t need to discuss what the alliance would do to them afterwards.
