Definitely agree here. The Alliance is full of demigod characters, but somehow the Horde matches them. Just somehow.
Those demigod characters are also degraded, if you are not a Human, you might never see your race actually leading an expansion (like Voljin). Just look at Tyrande, she had to get the power of a goddess and for what?
Just look a Malfurion, is incredibly powerful, but for what?
No demigod characters, yet kicking the Alliance down in the lore looks better than having demigod characters (or superweapons) and never using them
But at th4e end of the day, in my opinion, the story is more Human/Orc focused. Everyone else is the sidekick. And yes, that sucks hard.
Cata sylvanas was so ducking weird man. In silverpine people would get turned into forsaken and just be like “well time to help kill all my friends and family now” with no explanation. And then in another zone she kidnaps a death knight for helping an alliance death knight stop a necromancer.
No. Not really. They’ve (or Afrasiabi anyway) tried to retcon her into being responsible for stuff like Wrathgate (which makes no sense) but her current characterization didn’t start until they killed off Arthas and suddenly had no idea what to do with her or the Forsaken and turned them into mustache twirling villains
One of the biggest problems with WoW writing as a whole that was very prominent in Cataclysm especially is that none of the writers were communicating with each other and characters were all over the place zone to zone
That’s fair. It’s too bad we didn’t get a timeline where the Forsaken involved in the happenings of WotLK were harshly reprimanded, with that getting reflected in the Cata Tirisfal/Silverpine/Hillsbrad questing experience through the Forsaken emphasizing staying on the right path and fighting against the inclinations brought by undeath.
Whatever Sylvanas once was, has long since waved adios. I don’t know if I would could her a cartoon villain. Although, ironically, that is exactly what she is. However, you have a point that I agree with. She currently is as villainous as they come. If the writers have acclimations to give present day Sylvanas redeeming qualities, they set it up poorly. It’s kind of hard to see Sylvanas torturing someone like Anduin and then going, “Oopsie Dasies. My bad guys. I’m really a good person now. Just forget all that terrible stuff.”
I read the feedbacm from everyone but so much of the story I cant recall.
If you were me would you just replay the zones quests through expansions? At this point it feels really hard to get ones hands around the stories taking place outside of the major ones like Arthas, Deathwing, etc.
Is there a good website to refresh my memory?
My understanding was that in a book after Arthas died Sylvannas killed herself. How much of that sort of lore isnt in game to be read/discovered/experienced?
Other way around that’s all story that’s only in novels per your question. The long story short is that some of the most critical moments in the official story aren’t in the game at all.
I was hoping you would say yes but my understanding was stuff like Sylvannas jumping off ICC was in only a novel.
I find that to be pretty confusing. I can understand the appeal of telling story in novels and have no issue with that but I wonder what Blizzards thought process is in this as it relates to major character decisions that come across in the expansions main plot. If you didnt catch that info…it seems completely random as Im sure I am not the only one to mention. This baffles me.
As far as I can tell her death and connection to the Jailer starts here…
Wish it was in game. Maybe it will be next Tuesday?
Literally every Alliance leader is a god tier hero. The fact that Blizzard tries to write the Horde as posing a threat to the Alliance is pathetic.
Jaina - Literally almost wiped out all of Orgrimmar with a single spell, by herself.
Anduin - I watched this boy jump up on top of a Azerite Tank and destroy it in one blow and then mass rezzed an entire army…
Alleria - Super powered ranger fueled by the Void
Turalyon - Super powered paladin fueled by the Light
Velen - Super powered priest fueled by the Light (though idk wtf he does, apparently his super move is dying and becoming a chandelier)
Hell even your lesser leaders like Gelbin, The Dwarven Council, Greymane etc are still better than their Horde counterparts and offer a whole lot more. Look at all the technology that The Alliance has because of the Gnomes (and now Mechagnomes), Dwarves and LF Draenei. The massive Naval force thanks to a still intact Kul Tiras (as opposed to a decimated Zandalari Empire).
Sometimes I think Blizzard forgets just how far they’ve dug this hole…
This is why Blizzard has to make them so incompetent. If they had any real logical sense they’d just obliterate the Horde with a snap of the fingers Thanos-style.
It’s cute when Hordies say anything “Alliance Bias”. Always gives me a good chuckle. I know this is a troll post but I have seen legit posts for hordies try and cry anything Alliance Bias.
