Wha? Turalyon literally stood by as a giant light crystal demanded Alleria be locked away in a prison where she stayed till Legion and if anything the short stories are inaccurate in his portrayal.
Turalyon loves the Light first everyone else second he stood by as it locked away his wife and he stood by as it violated Illidan he is a fanatic of the Light always has been.
He is TRYING to understand, but in the end, he doesn’t, and he admits this. He still believes she has betrayed everything he believes in.
Also, the fact you think Alleria will just forgive him for letting Xe’ra lock her up for a thousand years is crazy. Lmao.
They both have love for each other, but they are also very conflicted about decisions both of them have made.
I would not be shocked if they end up using this as the excuse for why when they touch, they cause explosions, rather than strictly the interaction of void/light.
They are very distant in recent books/etc. not only because of the fact when they touch, they literally explode, but because they’ve realized their morals and such have drifted so far apart from each other.
The fact Turalyon is literally absent from the WW stuff with Alleria should have been a clue for you.
Doesn’t matter. Someone breaks that trust once they never get it back again unconditionally. That little voice in the back of your head will question any little inconsistency.
Yes, they were together for 1000 years in the Twisting Nether - most of the time in which he allowed her to rot in prison for studying the void.
I’m honestly more surprised they’re even trying the “there’s still love, but it’s hard to cooperate” thing, cause if my husband let someone lock me in jail for ~1000 years, the first thing I’d do when I got out is be put back in prison for murder.
To add to this, Alleria and Moira can interact just fine, despite Moira being a priest. Same with Alleria and Anduin.
So it’s definitely not just the Light/Void interaction that’s causing the explosions.
In general, Turalyon is a man with many good qualities, and in the end, he even accepted that Illidan destroyed a naaru right in front of him because he realized that the Light had gone too far in this case. I think it was also clear that he still loved Alleria deeply before TWW. As a leader, he is level-headed and demonstrated this even in his dealings with the Horde. All of these are good traits.
However!, one shouldn’t simply forget what he did to Alleria before.
In that sense, Alleria has been very forgiving so far… to put it lightly. I have no idea what they plan to do in TWW. Since the storytelling in WoW is generally considered rather poor, I just wouldn’t get too invested in it.
Thankyou. As someone else with a mental health disorder the story makes sense to you right? I’m not the only one going yeah that’s exactly how it would go for me.
This isn’t an objective retelling of Alleria’s story, but a personal and biased recollection of Alleria herself looking back at her past.
Alleria sees Turalyon as someone who rejected her path because she’s projecting and revealing her own deeply-internal feelings of fear and uncertainty onto the viewer.
gestures to Alleria’s new black / white outfit me with my black / white thinking mentality
Flails in the direction of EVERYTHING going on in Anduin’s head right now
Yeah I dabble. Altho amusingly my black / white mentality doesn’t really happen if its with fictional things. Once its real people the “I love you. I hate you.” thing kicks in.
Honestly, I prefer the two of them in the older story before WoW. In general, night elves in WoW have mostly been portrayed as endless victims, and their culture has been reduced to a joke. At the same time, I have to admit that even in the more recent, rather poor expansions, there were still some good moments. For example, when Malfurion pulled that one warrior underground. It’s a shame they weren’t depicted like that more often.
And even in Dragonflight, which I generally didn’t like at all, it was nice to see them embrace each other and include Shandris, without everything being tied to drama for once.
God no, like I said above, the first thing I’d do is end up back in prison for killing my husband.
Like, locking me up for ~1000 years because I violated his religious beliefs? Lmao. No.
I did like it, though I do think the random transfer of leadership from Tyrande to Shandris was rather stark and out of place. Yea, they’d been building it since BFA, but it was randomly inserted. Lol.
I posted a song from the new Descendants movie in the LGBT thread last night, which is about the main character trying to find out if thinking strictly black/white is actually something that should be done. xD
I’m not a fan of it either. Shandris is one of the characters I like the most since she’s one of the few NPCs that have been written consistently, but I just don’t see her as such a big leader. It might be understandable that Tyrande and Malfurion want some peace after everything they’ve been through… but still.
